Jotun Permit from Liberals of 31 Arietis?

I was checking the Updated Permit List thread and it appears like its not updated. Dukes of Jotun are no longer in control of Jotun. I went to 31 Arietis and after a couple hours got allied with Liberals of 31 Arietis, but received no permit.

Being the controlling faction at Ham Enterprise and at Jotun, it seems they are the ones issuing permits now.

What am I doing wrong?

The controlling faction is not necessarily the faction that issues the permit. That's just what would make actual sense. In this case the quoted thread is correct, requires Dukes of Jotun.

I got allied with the Dukes of Jotun too, in Blanquichu. No joy!! Thanks for the reply, but the mistery continues for me.

Very few permit systems are still controlled by the faction that issues the permit. It's definitely the Dukes of Jotun that issue the Jotun permit. They control several systems near Jotun, but you'll onlyget the permit from a system within 15ly of Jotun.

edit - Blanquichu is just under 15ly, so the mission generator might not like it. Try Djaujang.

It's the Dukes of Jotun you want. Got the permit from them within the last couple of days, at Blanquichu. Try logging out and in to refresh the board, or just fly around systems they're in until it shows.

I also got me the Jotun permit days ago.

What always worked for me (to get that Permit from the Mission Board) was to fly to the System closest to the Permit System where the needed Faction was present in (doesn't need to control anything, presence is enough).
There, checking the Mission board basically always and immediately gave me the Permit right away.

In a tad more distant places I sometimes had to use to Rep up (sold Exploration Data) however, I rarely got the Permit after becoming Allied.

Thank you all for the help, I got it finally. In the end I got the mission from Blanquichu after a few instancings. Devs should fix this, I was super confused and wasted 40mn in data before I turned to the forum so you guys could help me out. Funny thing is that the mission is no mission at all, I just accepted and the permit was delivered... makes no sense. Thanks!!

In my head-canon, permits are created when a faction or superpower pays a vast amount of money on a regular basis to Universal Cartographics, to implement the permit. The permit-issuing then belongs to that faction, up until the time that faction becomes so broke they can no longer pay the permit bills. The permit is then disbanded, or transferred to a new owner. It has to be a "vast amount of money", because Universal Cartographics must be getting all that cash paid out for exploration data from somewhere.

Being a permit-controlling faction theoretically gives you control over who is allowed to enter "your" system, as well as being a deterrent to hostile takeovers by invasion - since the invaders will all need the permit in order to turn up at their newly conquered system.

That seems to describe it well, good way to look at it [up] . In this case UC or pilots federation just need to make clearer who is the permit holder and where to find them in the galaxy maps. This would be a great quality of life improvement, especially when region permit become available.

Yet they have been as easy to expand into as any other system. Supposedly now in 2.4, permit systems are harder to expand into.

They could have made it much easier for a permit-issuing faction to keep control of their own systems: simply make it so that permits can be revoked if you double-cross the permit-issuer. Blow up one Dukes of Jotun ship in Jotun, and no more permit for you. Go away and wait a week before you can re-apply for the permit.

Just wanted to thank for the information regarding the 15 ly limit. Was wandering why there was no permit issued in NLTT 9032 (26 ly distance), have now been to Djaujang and it's done. [up]
