Joystick definition / Options

I run into a problem with multiple input devices.
I have a HOTAS setup.
Joystick
First problem
The settings interface shows something like Joy xx for a button on the joystick.
  • It's a button, not a joy.
  • It shows Joy 1 for a button on joystick 1 as for a button on joystick 2 (or joystick n, for that). Is it realy that tricky to put a name for the device on it? The XML holds one. Even cryptic hex numbers for unknow devs are better then now. There is screen space enough. I mean, is it that uncommon to play with HOTAS + rudder pedal?
Second problem
The number of buttons per device is very limited. There is no way to assign more then 32 buttons per device. I own a VIPRIL throttle that defines 84 buttons. Anything after button 32 will be ignored.
I have a way around using vJoy and Joystick Gremmlin, but that's not the idea of it.

Third problem
While there is a lot of settings for axis, it's hard to figure out if a axis need to be inverted or not. It's endles forward backward hopping in the settings page. And for that the design of the setting is a bit boring. It's just grinding.
Would it be possible to simple add something to test te axis right on the settings screen? To test inversion and deadzone? This goes for any axis.

Options
Would it be possible to make the settings more usable? Some settings might be toggled and switched (hold), others not. For example silent runing is switchable, landing gear and lights not.
There might be reason for a setup with a just-button-interface (in the sense to use silent runing as long as key is pressed), but there are devices with switches. So a hold option would make such switches more usable. Switch to gear down sounds great.

Thanks for the reply. Basically that's what I do, but Frontier will change nothing if one is not complaining loud enough. Some point's with vJoy/Gremln I've failed to think through. It works so far. :)
Saitek X55? Much fun with this crap. I run it for years with Austeroid's settings. It works fine so far - except the constant USB ghosting. I have uncounted times of TGL1 firing by moving the throttle, hickup on turning mode selector. Lubricant is very temperature sensitive. Joys working so far. In general the X55 is known for USB ghosting and wiring issues. The X56 is just a bit more LED gadget.
