Joystick dilemma

NXT is not really a competitor to Virpil. If you want to compare something really comparable, look at Gunfighter Mk III with Kosmosima grip (the same as NXT's).

Yeah, but the Kosmosima grip is not as good as Virpil'a offerings. I've owned both companies, and Virpil is just a step up.

I drool so much over the Virpil Constellation Alpha that I almost wish my X-56 dies so I have an excuse to buy it...

My NXT came. It's a true step up from the X55 - better hand fit, beautiful action, well put together etc. I need to mod it for my hand/pinky but, if I had a normal hand, it would be almost perfect (nothing ever is ...). It's a keeper I think.
Minor niggle was one of the 3 screws to secure the grip stripped it's socket, with no tightening involved - just kept turning with no force.
No 'sticktion' - although I was surprised by the dampening of the grease ... it REALLY puts the dampeners on. I had this with the X55 throttle when I first got it, and cleaned off some of the grease. I don't think I'll bother with this one yet - just wear it in and see where it goes.
The POV hat is strangely 'tall' - it really is like a mini joystick. Lovely action, but a bit 'wafty' (little resistance and feels a bit flimsy). Not sure if it'll take 'urgent' use, but I'll see.
I made a desk hanger mount for it, which changes the ergonomics immediately - it's much more comfortable and easier to manoeuver my thumb between the buttons.
My thumb can move (with very little palm action) between the thumb hat and the 4 top buttons/hats with no stretching, and the other buttons are all within easy reach of the other fingers (I use my ring in place of pinky).
Mapping it in was a pain. Not sure how others go about switching controller, but when I tried swapping them, the game ate my bindings file. I ended up using my original mappings file, changing the device name to match the NXT, and then remapping all the joystick controls (although they were pretty similar). The X55 has a similar control setup, so most of the buttons were already assigned.
I shall play for a bit before finalising, but I've got thrusters and pips and targeting and weapons and menus, so I'm good for now.
I'm seriously tempted to replace my throttle with a mini-keypad (and use the 'throttle' on the NXT) - in preparation for a HOSAS setup. But that can wait ...
I'm sad that I shan't get to play with the Virpil - I have put that on my list (along with Ryzen 5600X, ...) as a future purchase.
Anyone want a Virpil Joystick? Cost price.

Go virpil. My VKB base is great, but the grip has loads of problems, support haven't done anything to arrange the replacement they said they would and ignored my last message.
