Hardware & Technical Joystick modding/hacking...

So, anyone decided to take a perfectly good joystick, take it to bits and make it "better"?

Well, I was sitting there a few nights back, with my CH Pro throttle being repaired, I am currently just running a T16000M, with a Logitech Extreme 3D pro acting as a throttle for my left hand. The buttons on the 3Dpro or very old, and don't work very well, and the button placement on my T16000 is just hopeless for a game like ED - though it's no issue when you have a Throttle like the CH Pro, with it's bucketloads of hats and buttons. But right now, I don't, and honestly, I could do with a few more buttons being accessible on my T16000M anyway. I also want to turn off that damned LED, anyway, so warranty issues aren't going to matter anyway.

So, as with all great projects like this, I googled, and found this....

So, my project now starts. there are 6 buttons to play with that I am going to move onto the joystick itself, I need to hunt down some high quality buttons and hats - I may even take apart my Logitech to cannibalise the hat from it, with the final aim of have a T16000M that is actually working the way it probably should have to begin with.

Now, I'm not planning on going as mental as that guy, but I do want another 6 buttons where I can actually use them, near my fingers and thumb!

I'll update this thread with pics once I get the parts, and get it running.

I considered making a small improvement when I was fixing the trigger switch on my t16000m, breaking out a single base button up onto the stick would be a significant improvement. But like you, I have a CH Pro throttle so it's far from essential ... I decided not to risk it :)

Interested to hear how you get on, anyway.
