Joystick problem: Z-axis leaning right

I would first like to say that if this is not the proper place to ask about technical issues, please do let me know.

Okay, so I recently dusted off my (fairly new condition) Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and started up Elite Dangerous, which I haven't played in a while (shame on me).
When I left, I was dealing with a minor Y-axis tilt to the right (+2%); just enough to be slightly annoying, but not enough to be a detriment.
After coming back, I am now dealing with a +15% (to the right) twist on the Z-axis (as if I'm pressing the D key).
I have tried calibrating it via CTRL Shift Left click on properties, and the calibration didn't work.
I have the Logitech Profiler on my computer, but I really don't want to have to deal with a 15% dead zone & don't know if I can re-program it to compensate for that +15% error.
I'm considering the possibility that the joystick itself is defective, but I'm not drawing the conclusion yet.

I thank you for your recommendations. Fly steady & aim true, Commanders!

What version of Windows are you running?

I seem to recall I had this issue with mine and Windows 7 a few years ago.
If I recall, it was somewhat intermittant and the profiler needed to be running when playing ED.

The twist axis pot is a weak link in that stick.
My first one sort of "recalibrated" itself by deflecting all axes to their max when gaining control of the ship, but eventually even that didn't work. Went through two units after that, the other was warranty replacement, but got fed up with the same problem re-occurring in the end and got a T16000m FCS.

The Z axis is a weak spot of the T16000M as well, as sturdy and reliable it is otherwise. First problems appared after some months and got worse over time, recalibrating didn't help, neither did deadzones, so I'm flying with the yaw controls of the TWCS now. Or the rudders.

O7,
🙃

I'm not an expert on this but my old t flight Hotas had this same problem. My problem was the pitch sensor was going bad and you had to fly with constantly pulling towards one direction. I ended up scrapping the whole thing and got a refund. If that's your case then maybe you can replace it with some DIY work. Sensors and buttons like that usually run less that $1 on Ebay and if you end up thinking of getting a new one then you might as well give it a shot.

My T16000M had the same problem, the yaw axis went bad within a couple of weeks of use. It would randomly twitch left and right even when I wasn't touching the stick.

If its still under warranty I would return.
If not is it possible to give the pots a squirt with electrical contact cleaner?
I still have an X52 and still have to strip it and clean the yaw axis pot, mind you that stick must be 15 years old now.

I didn't like the stick that much even when it was working correctly, so any replacement I got would end up sitting on a shelf.

Perhaps a HOTAS may suit you better then.
I use the X52pro currently, which is great.
I got the T16000 as part of the hotas combo. So I still used the throttle for a while, but have since upgraded it to a Virpil Mongoos T-50. I'm using my old Saitek Cyborg EVO joystick for now. I've still not decided on which premium joystick to get. The ones that have a configuration I like, don't have a twist axis and that's a dealbreaker for me. I'm looking for something like a Warthog stick or Virpil Mongoos joystick with twist.

Clicker - I am running Windows 10. After reading you post, I ran ED with the profiler on & the problem seems to have cleared up.

Zieman - Yep, that's what I figured. Should I decide to upgrade I'll probably go with that.

TheLawful - Any joystick will eventually have that problem, but using your TWCS sounds like a good improvisement.

Sensei Jacksama - My biggest concern is once something goes DIY any customer service assistance goes out the window, but should I decide to go DIY I'll keep that in mind.

Avow555 - I'm not sure if the warranty is still valid or not, but it currently seems to have cleared itself up. Should running the profiler while running ED not work, I'll try using an electrical contact cleaner.

Thank you all for your feedback & suggestions! As of the current moment the problem has been resolved.

The throttle isn't too bad as long as you get some decent lube for it. The joystick is trash though. Luckily, you can buy the throttle separately, so that's what I'd do if I was dipping my toe into the HOTAS world -- buy the throttle, and a separate joystick. I outgrew the throttle fairly quickly too though.
