Joysticks and Japan

Hello Commanders,

Bit of Joystick adivce, I'm going to Tokyo for work next week and thought I might buy a new joystick out there to upgrade my Thrustmaster T-Flight. Any suggestions? Any Tokyo based commanders know where to go?

Artemis, posts outside of the international forums are required to be in english!

international forum?

English you say?......you must have to delete a lot of posts around here then Ian..

I merely told OP that he can find many a good quality joystick from many of the vendors in the back street markets.

True - a lot of things do get posted in the 'unintelligible rant' dialect. It's particularly difficult to parse but does just manage to qualify as english.

Thats great, ta. It's just 20 mins from my hotel!
I doubt you'll find much, if anything, that isn't already available at home.

You might find some wacky controllers for old Playstation games in the second hand shops - "recycle stores" (リサイクルショップ) - but yeah, HOTAS sets and the like aren't really mainstream.

Yodobashi Camera stock the Saitek stuff. It's all out on display so you get a feel for it.

You should just walk around Akihabara and go to the hundreds of shops that sell PC components - you might find some weird and wacky Chinese knock offs but I expect you'll mainly find Thrustmaster and Saitek products.

You might find the old Playstation analogue sticks:

or an old Steel Battalion controller:

You'll definitely need a PS-USB adapter for the Playstation stick (they'll be cheap enough, but be warned - I don't think the handles twist at all), but you'll likely pay rather a lot for the SB sticks.

Thanks, I always fancied a Saitek. Are they cheaper there?

I'm loving that retro Steel Battalion!
