Jumped in again today after two months.

Logged in for the first time in months, felt great to be back in my Python, as I shot out of the mailslot, getting the speeding warning, I felt good as I heard the familiar sounds of the engines and thrusters, and the buildup of the FSD. I was going mining!

Went to a high-intensity pristine metallic. Had A6 shields and max power distributor, but even so, the number of eagles and cobras attacking me eventually forced me to jump out, never mind the Clippers that would sometimes show up. Went to low-intensity... still same thing, except no clippers. Honestly didn't seem to be a difference from what I could tell. Every 30 seconds, a pirate was scanning me and attacking me.

Eventually, jumped out, accidentally went the wrong way, forced out of FSD, I'm just in the ring. No pirates.

Mine for 3 hours. Total haul? 750,000 credits. And that's going out of my way to sell everything that I had at maximum demand.

In the 45 minutes I was in the RES, I made 1,600,000 in bounties.

Typically, I can make 500,000 in 15 minutes trading, and that's not even a "great" route. It's just one that I know is steady and people leave alone.

Realized why I stopped playing the game. Mining is a joke; you have a better chance at good resources in RES, but with how freaking FREQUENTLY you are attacked by pirates, it's not worth it. Even with great shields, and FOUR shield boosters, they came down.

The pirates, meanwhile are freaking IDIOTIC. I literally sat next to a Federation Master Anaconda Security force, they would scan my cargo, go ape, and attack. I'd turn, bounty-scan, tag them a few times with pulse lasers, and let the Anaconda and 4 Vipers finish them off.

Honestly, the sheer NUMBER of pirates is dumb, dumb, dumb. Pirates in RES should be significantly reduced in terms of total amount, but have a higher bounty on them (maybe even add a special fine/bounty penalty for attacking ship while it is mining).

Then, went back and read the design documents for the game... and realized again I'm playing a beta. Where are the heatmaps for metals and minerals? Where are the frozen liquids? How come I can't scan asteroids close to me, but I can detailed scan that star over there? Where are the visually identifiable resources (all Avocados look the same)? Where are the specialized mining lasers that allow for enhanced extraction of specific resources? What about the Auto-miners? What about staking claims? What about mining from gas clouds, and having to worry if you're going through it too fast/hot, in case you might blow something up?

All of the good ideas in the design document disappeared, and we were left at launch with... well, that thing we had at launch, which made it such that mining in anything larger than a Hauler was laughable. Now, we have the collection drones, which allow the larger cargo/less maneuverable ships to do mining, but it's still boring and requires no skill whatsoever, and that's on TOP of the fact that it's not really profitable.

I got burned out on trading to my Anaconda (and then continuing until it was combat-fitted), combat itself is boring (always target the reactor for quick kills) which I found didn't change even when I was rocking my Full-A Vulture, and now mining... I feel like this is a shadow of a game. And that's not even getting started on PP.

I'm sorry if this comes off as a rant, but I kind of really need to let it out, and if you like the game, I'm not dissing you for it. I just feel like I've completed everything I'd care to do (think I have a few systems and a black hole as first discovered).

So I've logged out, and don't think I'm going to log in again for, dunno, maybe three patches? I just feel like there's no fun in the game, like the only reason to play is to make money. There isn't a story to speak of (which can be good, but isn't for me, I guess), and besides token "ranks" that anybody can get (and which are just gates to prevent buying certain ships), I don't know what's up.

Haha this is great. You do know res sites are not meant for players to mine unless you just wanna deal with endless pirates generated for bounty hunters. Just find a planet with good rings using system map and drop out anywhere along them. Res sites are made for players to go bounty hunting npc pirates. Or you could try flying like 8 km or more out and there wont be any pirates. Although like everything you could have saved your self endless head ache with google.

Maybe we even get another XBOX Graphics-downgrade, who knows.
Once again simple google search and you would find out how to fix this issue with a simple text tweak.

To me, this game's inability to hold to their design documents makes me look towards Star Citizen. Even if the game is taking longer than I had hoped, at least all the devs are adamant that what was put in their "this is how it's going to play" documents, are going to be in there at launch.

Hell, even transport ships sound interesting, even if they really are just gussied up frankenstein gameplay that is one part Diner Dash, one part Roller Coaster Tycoon, one part Trauma Center, and (if I get my way) one part Crazy Taxi.

Maybe you should read my post again.

I did what you suggested for THREE HOURS. 750,000k. Metallic Pristine.

The knack of mining is to do it in a group - you only need one storage ship and you all get the value...I'm not sure on the details, but my friends discovered this is how to do mining.

I gotta agree, mining in this game is pretty pointless right now. The prospector and collector drones were a step in the right direction, though.

I hope eventually this game lives up to your expectations eventually, cuz part of me kind of wants to see SC crash and burn :p.

Doubt it. I'm willing to bet that the FPS and Persistent Universe/social area will launch in Star Citizen before planetary landings will in E:D. And based on what I see from Frontier on how they've implemented EVERY update so far besides Wings, I doubt it will be good.

Heck, the game shouldn't have even SHIPPED without Wings...

When I mine in my Python it usually takes a bit more than 3 hours to fill the hold. I usually get 2-3 million if I just sell. If I camp for mining missions it goes up to 7 million, but that means you have to log in over the day just to check out missions. It's not as great as trading, but it's not bad and it's better than the mind numbing experience that is trading.

I filled my hold, though I admit that I did not exclusively try to only mine stuff with high-value (didn't jettison rutile, for example). Mostly because I found trying to find avacados with good compositions had me not mining for a lot longer. So, in theory, it could get better.

But I'm going to assume you're mining efficiently, even 7 million per 3 hours is a pittance, when a Python can make much more than that with one-jump trades, combat zones, or other things.

Can you enlighten me as to what that search might look like? I did search for "elite dangerous xbox graphic downgrade fix" and didn't find anything text tweak in any of the first 50 results I got.
