What happens when you jump into a star? It has happened to me so many times already, but I have always just passed through the star, never actually ended up trapped inside. I guess it must be VERY rare to end up inside, but if I do, what do I do?
You mean you actually ended up INSIDE of a star, not just passed through, your ship has stopped inside after the jump, and all it took was a couple of heatsinks? You should be ok if you drop a couple of heat sinks, maybe? I've passed through a star once while coming out of witchspace. overloaded my fuel scoop.
Dont be sorry, my question was begging for it..Don’t panic, just try to stay cool.
I’m not even sorry![]()
No, I ended up near to the main star. I was joking about the heat sinks. You mean you actually ended up INSIDE of a star, not just passed through, your ship has stopped inside after the jump, and all it took was a couple of heatsinks?
I passed through a star and ended up near the main star overheating so many times I lost count... But I think one day I can actually end up inside and I wonder what is the best approach to get out...No, I ended up near to the main star. I was joking about the heat sinks.

You sound like you're setting yourself a challenge there!I passed through a star and ended up near the main star overheating so many times I lost count... But I think one day I can actually end up inside and I wonder what is the best approach to get out...
Well, it definitely was not fixed entirely, as I keep passing through stars quite regularly and I'm always close to s h i ting my pants in the process... Like once a month this happens...Back a few years ago before they fixed it I got the impression I had passed through one star in a close multi star system too end up facing one of the others, the heat isn’t the problem I remember it was more finding a course that didn’t lead me too close to one of the stars so I was dragged out into normal space which would lead to heat issues.
But haven’t seen that behaviour since the fix.
There was a time just after the fix where you could drop out of jump too far away from the stars so you would have a cruise to reach scooping range but again that has been long fixed.
I hope they fixed it in a way you describe, because passing though a star happens to me really more often than I would like... I do around 100-150 jumps a day and being on an expedition, I really do not want to end up instadead, begging FD support to give me my ship and data back, waiting a couple of days for their response...It used to be common, due to FDEV changing the emergence distance for close binaries it happens very rarely now, but if a star is between you and a main star yes you can still pass through, but I don't think you can up inside a star anymore.
I wasn’t killed by the issue back when it was common* and I don’t think I have heard of anyone who was, I have been hauled out into normal space by a single star due to my misjudgments more often than when these incidents occurred so I think you are more at risk from the usual perils of exploration.I hope they fixed it in a way you describe, because passing though a star happens to me really more often than I would like...
