Jumping to another galaxy

Andromeda is 2.537 million light years away. Using 30 seconds per 40 ly jump, that would take approximately 22 hours of non-stop jumping. It's doable... The only problem I can is is that there may not be stars between the Milky Way and Andromeda, but there are rogue planets and failed stars. This would be an interesting game mechanic.

I wonder if SE would add other galaxies to E:D... If they were to do this they would also have to add all the various other phenomena that exist in space, and life! I want to be the first to discover an emerging civilization.

What do you think?

Any stars between the milky way and Andromeda would be way to far apart to leap frog at 40ly per jump to make your way over. Besides, we still need frontier to put some more interesting things in this galaxy before we start wanting another one.

Yeah this game is so broken still in the current galaxy we have. How about you settle down there before you start suggesting somethign that is never going to happen anyway.

Why you no like this galaxy?
Why you want leave?
You no like people?
:(

You do know it will take years just for people to find all this systems in this galaxy and you want them to make another. :)

To be honest that is even if people still have the servers up after ten years.

Thought also often about that FD might introduce a new galaxy in ED. They could put some worm holes in our galaxy somewhere which allows us to travel straight into this new galaxy. Or we will be given some ancient alien technologie which allows us you to straight jump from one relay to another relay in a other galaxy like the ones in the mass effect series.

Actually I believe the Magellanic Clouds are modelled in the game, and that we are just prevented from looking too closely at them right now.

See my Thargoid theory from May last year here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-!!!/page114?p=2261257&viewfull=1#post2261257

Well, your theory just creeped me out. If the Magellanic Cloud is really modeled, then I want to go there!

I can very well imagine that they could be in game. After all, it's probably just a seed and needs to load if someone somehow manages to approach or get there. The thing is though that the galaxy map does not allow to go that far, so even if you managed to get the jump range and find a viable route (highly improbable), you'd run out of map eventually. So, that would mean that the only way to get there if it's implemented would be with the intergalactic drive you mentioned, and the new galaxy with it's own map would need to load then.

FD could generate a lot of Galaxies by using current assets, but I think its a waste of DEV time...
They better make this Galaxy interesting first ;)

Yep, then you could just teleport your entire fleet over :p.

Everything you would do in Andromeda you can do in this one.
Let FD first build this galaxy and then they can go from there.
When the PG systems are fully developed the sky is the limit.

Otherwise there is NMS with several galaxies. It has more than 18 billion of billion of planets (2 ^ 64, or 18.446.744.073.709.551.616). It takes 5 billion years to explore it completely, if we stay one second on each planet. Perhaps you have enough with that ?

:p
