Jump's exit too close to Star, annoying!

After every hyperspace jump, I have to immediately pull up to avoid careering straight into the new systems star.

It's really annoying!

I want to sit back, enjoy hyperspace, take a sip of wine and prepare for my next docking run. Instead, I have to sit poised ready to react the moment I come out of hyperspace.

It just seems so unnecessary!

Make the arrival point either a littler further out from the star, or, just make the ship trajectory on arrival be so that it is skimming the edge, not pointing at the centre.

Does this bug anyone else :S

Just idle your throttle once entered in HS. You''ll come out at 30KM/s with no issues. ;)

Thanks for this tip, I had the same issue.

Could this 'feature of hyperspacing into sun' be something we will like if we ever get the fuel scoop back?

Good point. Apparently hyperspace ends up close to the largest gravity field in a system. So there is a game logic to it. We also all need to end up somewhere far from the authorities so that the pirates can introduce themselves. Fuel scooping as Sessine mentions. I think most pilots have the proxy thing a few times early on and then after a while never again.

Also the pirates thing - once we can be chased into super cruise it is more interesting to be near something that might block escape. That way it is a more interesting situation not just a drag race.

I like it. Something very cool about landing on top of a star and having it fill the screen. Like others have said you can come out of it moving slower.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
I adore the hyperspace exit with the star filing up your cockpit glass. As others have said, just pull back on the throttle before you appear.

I'd love it if you could more clearly see a difference in the sizes of the stars. Imagine being used to flying between yellow dwarf stars and that look relatively small when coming out of hyperdrive, then suddenly entering a system with a red giant filling your cockpit window...

How is it working currently? The distance in LS to the star's 'surface' varies between stars, but I can't work out if that's because you come out at the same distance from their centres or if you come out at a set range to their mass lock distance.

Whatever is going on, it's giving the impression that all the stars in the Premium Beta are about the same size, but I'm not sure if that's the case or not...

For visual impact its perfect to me .. Any further away and it just wouldnt be the same.

Maybe exit with a little less speed, but then once its possible to approach the star a little closer (for fuel scooping) it probably wont be as much of a problem.

I do love the visual drama of it, and if I get in the habit of putting my throttle back into neutral once I've started to jump, then that's me happy again.

Thanks for the tip Commanders!
:)

I like them being close to a star for the dramatic effect. Maybe it's just over used in the testing. I'd like them to keep it in but hopefully we'll see near random local exit points from hyperspace and super cruise too.

^this. I really don't mind throttling back while in hyperspace, but I still think is a bit silly to come out right at the border of mass lock. If we could get closer to stars (and to other celestial bodies) that would have the double advantage of making hyperspace exit less troublesome and showing how gigantic stars and planets are. I think it's planned though, so I won't complain until gamma :p

I kind of agreed but then I weighed up the pros and cons.

Pros.
It looks good
It sounds good.
In my head it sort of makes sense for it to happen this way.

Cons.
Its a repetitive situation you have to pull out of every single time.
You have to babysit hyperspace every single time.

And in the end overall I suppose I'm ok with the way it is.

Yeah, the problem isnt so much that it puts you in front of the start, its that the stars influence is directly where you come out of hyperspace.

If we came out where we did, but because of scale it was much further out than it is at present, so you could get a lot closer, Which would make the sun look bigger, that would be better.

It will become more interesting when more types and sizes of stars are introduced.

I don't have any problems with the current set up, but would be OK with entering a system further away from the star.

In FE2 you jumped in on the edge of the system, not the centre, which depending on orbits could actually put you 2-3 times as far away than the last time you jumped into the same system.

I am a bit sorry that the game doesnt pull you out of hyperspace in the outer system like the other games did. I loved the travelling into the inner system part and the fear of the outer system and meeting pirates.

I dont know why that cant be the same for this game, I dont see why anyone would want to exit hyperspace very near the star anyway, and then have to fight against its gravity to get back away from it again rather than using gravity to assist your transit into the inner system.

Maybe they can modify it so that you come out running at a tangent to the star, so you're just this side of the mass lock indicator, but if you kept straight you wouldn't get stuck. That way, you get the same impression of size and gravity, literally, but it's not a panic situation, and you can choose from there your route, or hopefully to dive in to scoop some plasma.

It also could possible change a bit as they tighten the mass lock area, because there's no way currently you could get close to any star or gas giant to collect hydrogen, so maybe in the future the same jump exit point won't be such a crisis area.
