With the latest DLC to arrive in December 10th 2019, JWE will have a new main campaign that focuses on the reconstruction of the original Jurassic park. Alongside that campaign, a lot of new content will be introduced that ranges from new buildings, 2 new creatures, reworked dinosaurs, and a new update to go alongside the release of the DLC. Everyone is excited for the new DLC as it allows players to build and play in JWE with a strong JP theme, catering to the fans both new and old in the jurassic park/world franchise.
I have compiled a list of all that we know so far based on the teaser, pictures, and articles. Over the course of the next few weeks, I will be updating this thread accordingly so we could get a larger scope of what is to come. So please do let me know if I missed out of some content or made some mistakes. Without further ado: Welcome to Jurassic Park.
Availability:
• The new DLC will be arriving to Steam, Xbox, and PS4 on the 10ths of December, for £15.99/€19.99/$19.99 (prices may vary depending on platform and region, you will need to own the base game to play the new content).
• Likewise, update 1.12 will come alongside the new DLC for free, which leaves us with the status of update 1.11 in the air. As of writing this, the game is in update 1.10, and jumping to update 1.12 would skip update 1.11. Will it be released prior to update 1.12, or has the content been merged with later inclusions to bring us update 1.12?
The DLC Story:
• The DLC will take place directly after the events of the original jurassic park in 7 story based missions between Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna. So far, this would mean we will have the events of the lost world be reintroduced in this campaign, however it is unclear of JPIII will have a presence in this campaign mode just yet.
The Characters:
• Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) will reprise their roles in this new DLC. This will be the first time Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler have been in a JP media since 2001's JPIII, and the first time they are all together since the original movie.
• The other characters such as Ray Arnold, Robert Muldoon, and Dennis Nedry would most likely not reprise their roles as the events of the first movie killed off these characters. And if the campaign mode were to start after the events of the first movie, then these characters would most likely be heard through dialogue alone.
• John Hammond and Dr. Henry Wu are unknown at this point, they are of the two most notable characters in the movie as the founder of JP and the scientist behind the reintroduction of the dinosaurs respectively. So they would most likely have a role in this campaign as they are alive after the events of the first movie, however we need further information before we could determine their inclusion and roles in the new DLC.
• Lex and Tim Murphy, as the grandkids of the original jurassic park, this may be the first time we see children in the game. However, nothing has yet determined if they made it into the game or not. Most likely not as we have a large cast of characters in the game, and the player has to deal with management which lessens the encounter with the grandchildren. However, they may be brought up during conversation within the main campaign story.
The Maps:
As with the trend of the two prior DLC, we are most likely to have only 2 new maps in this campaign, one to be set in Isla Nublar and one to be set in Isla Sorna. Their scales have yet to be determined but would be comparable to the larger scales of maps we have been receiving in Claire’s Sanctuary. Likewise, new maps means new challenge mode skin rewards, so we would likely see some top tier skin variants for the classic dinosaur roster as rewards.
The New Creatures:
Return to Jurassic Park will introduce 2 new creatures that have their own unique paddocks, The Compsognathus and the Pteranodon.
These 2 dinosaurs would be treated differently from the rest of the dinosaurs that are in Jurassic World Evolution, it has been confirmed by Game Watcher that these 2 creatures will have their own unique paddocks. All dinosaurs so far have been made with the hammond creation lab and could be placeable in virtually any environment in the map, with full customization to their enclosure security, food, terrain, population, and space. These two will then have a more static building that would house these creatures and we are still unsure of the level of customization these paddocks would allow for. Likewise, new mechanics could be introduced to recapture these creatures as we have one as an Aerial creature not bounded by the ground and obstacles, and the other is too small to be captured by the traditional dart method. Their inclusions would be an experimental testing ground to Frontier that could allow for later inclusions such as dimorphodon and microceratus. Further information is needed to know how these mechanics would function.
Monday the 18th of November: Community manager Steggs has confirmed that the Compsognathus are a free roaming dinosaur!
Therefore, the Pteranodon is the only creature tied to a static exhibit. Further information is needed in how escape measures are taken care of and how the creatures are to interact with the other dinosaurs, guests, and environment.
The Old Dinosaurs:
Return to Jurassic Park will reintroduce a large selection of base game dinosaurs with new skins and updated models that are more appropriate to the original trilogy. This may also introduce sexual dimorphism to some old star creatures based on their later film adaptations. Their skins may not be varied on coloration as they general dinosaur in the game, but on their Island location and movie debut.
These are the dinosaurs that have been confirmed to have a new look to go alongside the new DLC:
• Brachiosaurus: The first dinosaur revealed in the trailer and looks exactly as her debut in Jurassic Park. Fans have spotted striped head brachiosaurus with red coloring on their heads, so JPIII skins are also represented in this game.
• Parasaurolophus: Their dusty lost world skin has been seen in the teaser and promotional pictures. A slight variation may have been spotted, so they may have variations based on their original JP and JPIII variants as well.
• Tyrannosaurus: The tyrannosaurus in the trailer has appeared to have been made bulkier to her JWE counterpart. Likewise, her JP look and TLWJP possible buck skin has been seen in the steam pictures, it is unsure if a JPIII variant would be included as well.
• Triceratops: The triceratops has a more bulkier look and skin that is similar to her original movie debut. It is unsure if a TLWJP or JPIII variants could be introduced as TLW triceratops was in a dark location and JPIII has a small birds eye view.
• Stegosaurus: Stegosaurus is back and is sporting her TLWJP green look.
• Dilophosaurus: They have been seen in the trailer, however they do not look as different from their JWE counterpart as their JWE is heavily based on the original movie.
• Velociraptors: The raptor has been given her iconic first skin in JP, likewise a stripped raptor and a raptor based on The Big One could be seen in the steam page of this DLC. Though not revealed, TLWJP and JPIII variants would most likely be in the game thanks to the brachiosaurus and Tyrannosaurus rex having skins from the original sequels. It has yet to have been confirmed if the male variants of the raptors would make it into the game.
And below are a list of dinosaurs that have made an appearance in the original movie trilogy but have not been confirmed or shown to be given the same treatment, the list only includes dinosaurs from the base game and fallen kingdom patch:
• Ankylosaurus
• Ceratosaurus
• Gallimimus
• Corythosaurus
• Pachycephalosaurus
• Spinosaurus
• Metriacanthosaurus (Genome name)
• Mamenchisaurus
• Baryonyx (Original Map)
Building Objects:
There are new buildings shown in the trailer and steam pictures that showcase as well as some new fencing and trees to be part of the new dlc/update. Here is the list of confirmed objects so far:
• Toilets: With update 1.12, toilets will be introduced to JWE and introduce alongside it a possible guest need to use restroom, further adding to guest management.
• Compsognathus Paddock: It is unknown how this will function in terms of function and customization, this will most likely add to the dinosaur count and may or may not invoke guest needs like fun. Would present a new way to manage the smallest creatures in the game.
• Pteranodon Paddock: Similar to the Compsognathus paddock, this and the previous paddock would only require a set number of space for construction. Their gameplay function and customization has yet to be revealed.
• Rail based tours: The teaser starts with JP1993 Jeeps in a rail, that railing system would be similar to the original park tours where the cars are in a dedicated rail and can not venture away from the path. A ford explorer variant has been discovered that utilize the same railing system.
• Jurassic Park gate: The new gates shown in the film could either be a set alone object that could be applied to all tours, or unique to the Rail based tour.
• Visitor Center: The visitor center has been seen in the trailer, their function has yet to be revealed.
• Jurassic World Welcome Helipad: This helipad has been seen in the steam page, it is unknown if this is a placeable building or a preset building.
• The Raptor Hatchery: The raptor hatchery is one of 2 hatcheries seen in the steam page. What function it has to the other creation lab has yet to be revealed. It could very well be a more compact hatchery for smaller dinosaurs that do not require the large hatchery. Or it could provide a new gameplay function with it being raptor exclusive, it has yet to be revealed.
• The Jurassic Park style Hammond Creation Lab: This building is very similar to the Hammond Creation Lab but with the Jurassic Park theme to it.
• Light and heavy fencing: The light and heavy fencing have been noted in the JP DLC in the stegosaurus picture. The heavier looking fence has a notable spikey top that is similar in look to the old fence in JPIII.
• Fencing also have 2 variants of top protection often used to prevent creatures to climb over the fence, further information in needed if dinosaurs like raptors have a new escape mechanic.
Speculation: As the compsognathus are confirmed to be free roaming, this in turn clarifies that the chain link bottom is made for the compsognathus in mind. The Jurassic World themed fencing may have an updated look to contain the chain link fence as well.
• New scenery Trees: The same stegosaurus picture has large brown vertical vegetation in the background similar to the redwood tree. This could very well be a nod to the forest look in TLWJP, and could be seen as a scenery object than a new tree brush.
• The substations are notably different from the current JWE variant, fans have noted their shadow casts that of a traditional transmission tower than a pole, this may mean we have a power station that is similar in theme as well.
Possible new restaurants, shops, and attractions could be introduced to this DLC.
New Game Mechanics:
So far in terms of new gameplay, bathrooms will be made into a new guest need for deeper park management.
Likewise, ranger vehicles will have more interactions to the dinosaurs. This may lead to destructible vehicles as we see a stegosaurus tail whip a ranger vehicle in the steam page. Further data will be added once more is revealed.
New JP Themed UI and Inventory:
The game will have a new UI that will be usable in challenge mode and sandbox mode alongside the DLC campaign. This UI may have an orange retro look to emulate the old computers in the original JP.
So far this is all that I gather on the upcoming DLC, let me know if I missed out on anything or I placed something wrong. I will continue to update this thread as more gets revealed in regards to the new DLC. December 10th is not that far away!
