I went to choose a Commander name:

Commander Straker and Commander Koenig both taken.

That tells me something about the age of ED players! :)

Not necessarily, they might be taken as NPC names?

Just like Will Rogers (I assume 'Buck' Rogers) and Alex Murphy (Robocop).

Of course I could be completely wrong on that :D

Yea.I went for Kerr Avon and Roj Blake,but both had gone.So,I settled for a minor character in Ven Jarvik.

I wonder if there is a Nathan Spring,or anyone from Moonbase 3?

Well Straker is definitely a player, as the name pops up if you do a search for friends. However Koenig doesn’t come up, so it’s a reserved name (NPC?)

Ed Straker and John Koening have also gone.

Obviously Commander Koenig is only allowed to fly an Eagle :D

I first got into computers with the TRS-80 (it belonged to a friend). My first game was Star Trek on that same machine, Hmm... Or maybe it was Hamurabi... Anyway, I remember printing out a SHADO ID card on thermal paper (the metal kind). I thought that was really cool.

When I was originally thinking of Cmdr names, the first two I came up with was 'Commander Sam Shore' and 'Steve Zodiac', before I settled on something much more modern.

Gotta love growing up in the 60's :)

Now that does bring back memories.....
Dr Venus... Phwoooar! At least in the annuals. Not so much the puppet....
