Mine do well. early days when they were less experienced was a bit hit and miss but as long as you order them well they are a welcome source of additional firepower.
Its also damned good fun flying one whilst a well trained crew member looks after the mothership.

Poorly, they tend to get missile spammed to death quickly, it's just luck. Sometimes they can last a bit, other times they get shot down within a minute of being launched.

Keep the SLF on a short leash and unless you're attacking a specific target, tell them to hold fire. Otherwise they chase after every enemy target and not only get wasted right away, but aggro a bunch of enemy ships that will then target you.... And you'll lose them fairly often even so. Good luck!

Not recommended. Maybe if you've swung the momentum so there are only a handful of enemy targets left alive.
