Just a small tip.

Hi Cmdrs,

On occasion I have found that coming out of frame drive I have not had full control of my ship, (the controls do not work) for some reason the program can loose focus, when this happens I have to alt tab to get the focus back and can then be too close to the sun...

So to avoid that happening the moment I enter supercruise I chop the throttle to zero, then when I exit in front of the sun I am stationary and have time to sort out any problems.:D

This has saved me at odd times so I hope it may help someone else.

Good tip, think I've seen mention of it elsewhere.

However, it never works for me! I pop the throttle to Zero when the FSD charging bar is near full. I see my throttle drop to zero as you'd expect, but I still emerge from FSD going at the usual speed. I wonder if it only works with certain control set ups? I'm using an X52 for the record.

Cheers,

Scoob.

Regarding the occasional loss of focus, check to make sure your anti-virus is in gaming or silent mode. Avast was doing that to me quite a lot at first. It never actually popped up a notification, but it would steal window focus anyway. Forcing it into gaming mode fixed it. I also find that running in borderless windowed mode instead of full-screen helps. That way all it takes is a tap of the mouse to regain focus instead of having to reach for the keyboard.

As for the throttle, I'm using the X-55 with my analog throttle set to forward-only. I usually pull it back to zero as soon as the countdown starts, and I arrive in the next system at minimum speed every time. Unless something's stolen the window focus prior to my pulling back, of course.

In my case, very rarely, it looses focus after a hyperspace jump. That isn't as bad as the fact that when it does, my throttle gets somehow set to 50% for the duration of lost focus regardless of the position of my throttle stick. So if it happens right after I jump into a system (and it doesn't always. Sometimes there's a delay of a few seconds and I have time to turn away from the star), I end up going towards the star at 50% speed. Luckily, so far it hasn't killed me or even gotten me dropped out of SC, but only because I'm quick. As I'm playing with the Rift and three monitors are connected, borderless window isn't an option. I'm on an X52 Pro.

Sigh. This sounds like the headlook bug that was introduced and then_supposedly_ fixed in 1.1 beta, or a variation of it. If you had turned on headlook with a toggle key, then used your FSD without toggling it off again, your joystick roll and yaw axes were getting locked out/overridden. If you can confirm that you had been using headlook just prior to FSD, you definitely want to ticket it and let them know, again.

It works on my X52Pro. Even just dropping to 75% slows one down enough to be in control.

Something else to try: Jump to hyperspace from normal flight, but don't use the throttle to reach jump-out speed, leave it at zero and boost instead. Obviously, that would be terribly inconvenient to have to do every time, but it might at least help you to narrow down what's going on, depending on what happens.

Ditto for me works fine. Maybe calibrate the X-52 so neutral is set to zero?

And OP - if this is happening and u r not in bordered or windowless mode and moving your mouse off the main game window I would ticket it. I only find it happens with me when I'm doing something on the other screen and forget to switch back.
