has the idea been tossed around about engineer holo-me's in Jaques/colonia space? if players can "project" themselves into other ships from anywhere in the galaxy, why can't engineers project out to jaques? granted, you'd still need to equip/transfer the parts to jaques seeing as how the selection is pretty bare-bones and you'd have to have access to a particular engineer before setting out. it's just a bit painful (and very pricy) to get all the way to colonia and have to either sui-sidewinder back to the bubble and make the trip as many times as you need to to get all your ships to colonia space. this is considering you don't have the countless millions of credits on hand to just transfer them all. i made the trip once and have 2 lightly modded ships in colonia now. it was a small fortune just to transfer a keelback. can't imagine what it would cost to transfer my python. i'm aware i could just mod the parts, store and transfer the parts, but we're getting into retroactive thinking now and i'm a goof who didn't think that far ahead.... don't judge me....
