Just a word but...

...since i play this game (beta 1) i have a little problem with paying up a "fine" for a prefectly legal mission.
Haul some scrap over from xxx to yyy and you get 3000crs payed. But there's always this "fine" to pay at the end.
A "fine" for me is something i have to pay up when i've done something illegal/against the law like entering a station without permission to enter or so. I get fined for this...fine, that's life.
But for a legal mission...?

Maybe the word "tax" should be a better word to use for payments at the end such missions?

There are fines associated with haulage missions, but only if you don't deliver in time or abort the mission. It is a fine for breaching the contract, which exists in the real world of 2014 as well - because breaching a contract IS illegal!

If you were scanned by station authority ships at the station where that item is prohibited, you will be issued a fine.

So always check the station for Prohibited items, in the Galaxy Map - System map.

You have the option to evade the system authority scan, by Silent Running quickly into the station.

I suspect there's a bug (already ticketed) I picked up some "janitor" (go clean up the universe and collect this stuff) missions, performed them all (1x plans, 1x black box, 2x proto tech) and got slapped with a fine from the Pilots Fed as I got back to base, only for them to also accept the items on mission hand in (no other items in the hold).

What I think happened is that I picked a Proto Tech from one USS and the other from a second USS.

Also note that similar missions where I was also scanned resulted in no fine.

I hereby rest my case. Maybe due to the lack of a decent manual that explains some stuff?

Not really. It is indeed a fine as it states, and it's the cost to you for cancelling or failing the mission.

Agree re: a manual for sure, but that's coming, but this particular "issue" is already self explanatory. Also... a question since beta1, but you ask it now? I don't think the mission text has changed much since then :)

You don't have to pay the fine if you deliver in time. The item will be flagged as stolen and you have to pay the fine if you do not deliver them in time. Sometime I take those mission if the fine is too low for the item worth, then abandon the contract and sell the stolen goods on the black market for a profit.

I thought these types of mission made it clear the action was considered illegal, which is the clue you need to sneak back into the station to hand in our accept the lesser profit after paying the fine.

Yep absolutely. No wonder that FD can't be bothered to write a manual when people can't be bothered to read even the text on the screen in front of them before accepting a mission.
