Community Event / Creation Just another chair project

Well actually there are two chairs in this thread but who's counting.
All this messing around got started last august when I got a x55 hotas and it was obvious that ergonomics really needed to be taken a look at.
These things are really huge and need to be placed somewhere else than table.

So I began my quest.

MK I

Off to the workshop with some 25x25 mm steel tube and 1 mm sheet metal.

y3mQeku8mmgPmHaARw_DKGVUNSOpYpES8tQpnYV-3Lbmvm7c79p8zgEARnfCpU-PO8ne2VS4zs1qJYE_UHuN-ly3DdcqoGQOSHK_U9Az5zc5uAisXUOBkDO2W3hKUD7n--iE93XchEH1Xs8kzKXWaho5A

Cutting & welding. x55 has mounting holes in all corners of it's frame so that sheet metal becomes quite sturdy with stick and throttle bolted on.

Finished L-shaped brackets and some fine adjustment duct tape. There is a piece sheet metal welded to that tube under there and the whole thing is held in place by same three bolts that connect the armrest to chair. Holes to make setup adjustable.

Everything in place.

And that's how I rolled for a couple of months... Until that P.o.S. chair was replaced with a bit less crappy one.

To be continued in next post with MK II.

MK II

The mounting mechanism of the armrests was so simple that I scavenged an extra pair. They just slide into a slot under the seat and then it's just one big bolt to tighten them all.

This time I went with 25x25 mm and some 20x20 mm steel tube. Some parts are recycled from MK I.

Adjusting these is still in progress. Millimeter off from here and there every now and then.

Getting there...

Shorter bolts so the washer and nut stays hidden inside the tube and behind a plastic cap.

Latest iteration of concept. Which is I doubt is going to be the last...

Nice work! I just recently did something similar with my hotas, definitely makes game play much more fun. I'd like to see what you come up with next.
