Just bought another copy...

Of Frontier Elite (Amiga release).

I was given an amiga a long time ago, with Frontier Elite as one of the games with it. Sadly, thanks to a larcenous uncle, I lost both Amiga and game.

Since starting ED, I wanted very much to have that boxed release back, so off this month's spending money, I bought a copy off ebay.

Manual, Tales, and Map, the trinity of real world items that made Frontier that extra bit special.

Currently trying to work out how to go about laminating my nearly mint condition map...

I got the same box for 'IBM PC'.
It will be with me until I die. Too many good memories. It changed my view of what games should be like.

In case you want to play this on your PC

Get WinUAE: http://www.winuae.net/

Some google search reveals this: http://www.oldgames.sk/en/game/frontier-elite-2/download/9159/

The original disks are most likely not working anymore

Oh, I have a win95 virtual machine set aside JUST for FE, and even my phone can run it via dosbox if I really want it that badly!

I actually have an amiga emulator set up, and somewhere I have a storage tub with a modified 3.5" floppy drive that can read Elite discs into a modern PC running Winuae, but it's all a lot of hassle for something I can just flat-out emulate from an image on my hard drive. There is a decent chance the original discs still function - I've seen older and in much worse condition still playable, but I don't intend to run them. Nice to have though.
