Yeah, that's it, any body have a fix for that, I am sure there is one. After fixing the throttle friction and fire button, just have to find how to fix the Z axis I just broke
Oh no! When I was looking inside the joystick handle, the twist mechanism seemed fairly well sealed up. Not sure if that comes apart or not to repair but may depend on what the actual failure point is. Maybe something simple like a loose connection or broken wire?
Hmm maybe the spring in the center. That is pretty hardcore spring tho, so more likely part of the plastic casing/holding it. Have you pulled it apart to take a look yet?
I bought an x-55 for use with Elite round-about a year ago. The thing does not hold up long. Several buttons and a hat switch quit working right and the throttle resistance setting is a mess.
you can fix that resistance by taking off some lube on the blade, that lube is sticky and give resistance, but when heated, it get loose, but there is just too much lub sometime
Exact same thing happened to my x55 last month.
A quick e-mail to saitek and they posted out a replacement FoC the next day.
Looks and works like new now and I still have the old "loose" one too.
The QA and build process for Saitek sucks. It's not uncommon for the 52's to fail (assuming they work right out of the box to begin with, which isn't always the case...)
If you're within the warranty period, it may be worthwhile to file a claim and send it in for them to fix for you.
Saw the same thing happen to some guy while he was streaming ED. Twist went "snap" and no more spring.
My X55 is currently in for warranty as well. It will be up for sale when it gets back. It has been over a month since I first contacted them with my problem (lost x&y axes when I calibrated using their profiling software) and they still haven't looked at it yet (they have had it for 2 weeks) I bought a Warthog, got tired of waiting. Wish I had back the money I wasted on the X55.
Good new, it is kind of fix, I just made a little tension blade to replace the spring. It's not coming back to 0 position, but work well. I will make a better one soon just need to level up in smithing and get the Saitek perk.
