Just Cause 3

Anyone else tried Just Cause 3?

I was hooked on JC2, was playing it for ages trying to 100% all the content but it's just too huge. JC3 is nice, looks a lot better (though still not the best graphics you'll see on PS4), the wingsuit is a really handy addition, plus the ability to use tethers to open gates (don't think that was in JC2). Also really like the ability to hack SAM sites so using bases' defences against them.

For me though, there's just much less content. On the first two smaller island groups, it doesn't feel so bad. But then when you hit the main island it's far bigger, but seems to have the same amount of content so it's incredibly sparse. I was easily able to 100% all towns and bases in JC3 in about a week, whereas I wasn't even close in JC2 after weeks of gameplay.

More worryingly, even having less content; what it has is very dull and repetitive. There are basically towns and bases... and that's it. Yes, there are power stations, airfields and ports; but they are basically bases with slightly different make-up. In JC2, you had a Cape-Canaveral-like launch facility, an atomic power plant, a floating night-club in the sky, a ski resort, a couple of huge hotel towers to base-jump off or fly under. The JC3 locations just feel a lot blander and more generic than its predecessor. (The one exception are the huge strip-mining areas in JC3)

It's still daft as a brush, and requires copious amounts of belief suspension, but great fun as a "blow everything up" sandbox.
