Just did a ton of combat...for nothing?

I think the multiple stations in a single system design is detrimental to the game then (the practicalities, not the realism). It screws up trading as well by making the trading map difficult to read and also because often it's optimum to go to multiple stations in a system, cash-wise, but terribly inefficient time-wise. I find myself trapped where I am. There is a Refinery station selling gold very cheap. Right now my optimum strat is to ferry Gold from there to any Gold consuming system nearby (I make about 26k doing that) and bring Mineral Extractors back (for meagre profit of around 3k). I've tried running all over the local systems and there is nothing better I can do. Example: I'd be better taking Tea back to the Refinery instead of Mineral Extractors, but I'd need to hop a station after selling the Gold to get any, as the Tea producers don't want Gold and the Gold consumers have no Tea. The problem is a station-to-station hop within a system takes MUCH longer than a system-to-system jump so it's just not time-efficient to go get the Tea.
