Just getting into game with the Vive is becoming harder and harder

Of that, just getting into the game with the Vive working seems to have become impoossible without a full system reboot, every time you want to play. Once this is done everything works fine, but if I try to play without a reboot everything works fine until the game starts to load, then the headset lenses just go black and there is no feed. Sometimes it will start to work find but then half way through the opening credits etc goes black.

Is anyone else having this issue. It seems to be quite new and it is very irritating to have to <redacted> about for 10 mins just to get into the game.

What gpu drivers are you using? A lot of people have been reporting that the latest nvidia drivers have a bug that puts the hmd to sleep / shut screen off

I've been having the same problem; SteamVR is running and thinks the the HMD is active but it's actually asleep. As Full_Ninja mentioned, I believe it's related to the recent Nvidia update. I haven't tested the theory though. I quick reboot seems to fix the problem for me.

I've been having the same issues. If I keep my head moving, though, it stays awake.

Nothing is more terrifying than being in the middle of a hyperspace jump, and just before you fall back into normal space everything goes black.

No problems whatsoever with me, I even have to reset the Afterburner profile to stop mining, the system runs without a hiccup.

I came here looking for answers to just this issue. I get into the game, and will be going along, and then suddenly black, and no audio. I can't tell if the Vive is going to sleep or what is happening. When this happens if I take off the headset the game is still showing running on my monitor, and after a moment the headset starts working again.

I've never had this issue. The only problem I experience sometimes is that the base stations don't shut off when I close SteamVR, but that's a Vive/Bluetooth issue.
