Just got back (again)

I have been in the black for a while, just got back and sold all my data and my commander name is now on over 40,000 objects...
Now for some R&R around Pratchett's Disc..

I did the exploration bit a little here and there on my first account, but due to time constraints and obligations to the faction I'm with, I always seem to have to cut my trips short. But I built the account up to over 6 bil in assets and cash on hand, and brought in a second account. I initially got the second account to do the new multicrew feature with my first account, but did not work as well as intended, if I ever get a better internet setup, then it may work out better. So decided to use the second account as the exploration wing of the first account and it is dedicated to exploration pursuits. It has gained Elite in exploration already, but virtually no other rank. On my first trip with it to the black I was able to go from 32 mil in the bank to 330 mil, and upgraded the DBX to an ExploraConda, I bantered around the bubble for a few days unlocking a few of the early engineers to get some of the upgrades, but hated the grind. I wanted to get Lori unlocked, but don't think I can do the grind again to get Dangerous in Combat, I remember that grind on the first account and it seemed to take forever, that's a lot of killing to do, so will just have to settle for the lower level upgrades that the other engineers give you, better than nothing. But this second account is now on its way to Beagle Point with a 60 Ly Anaconda, and I'm gonna scope up all the first discoveries I can find, I am still inputting the data from the last exploration trip, but currently have 42k first discoveries. I got a lot of catching up to all you premier explorers, but at the rate I am going, I'll be catching up fast, after I finish adding the last trips first discoveries to my spreadsheet, should have around 45k total, and right now have another 1600 from this trip, (which ain't mine til I sell the data, so they are just potentials).

I notice that a lot of explorers, or rather, non explorers that go out into the black looking for 'special' objects to scan and leave everything else. It may just be a measily Icy Rock, but dang it, if you leave it unscanned, it will become an Icy Rock with my name on it, I have over 14k first discoveries on Icy Rocks alone, and I will go 500k LS to scan a single one if there is a chance it will have my name on it...hahaha, but to those pick and choose explorers, I have counted coup on some of the stuff you left behind, recently I counted coup on one that left a pristine earth like. It was the 3rd planet from the star, not very far away, and in the system map it was such a pretty blue color that stood out from the other objects in the system, quite distinctly, I was so surprised to find it was an ELW, I thought it would only be a water world. I have counted coup on water worlds and ammonia worlds, sometimes they blend in and are hard to tell what they are til you scan them, and of course, plenty of Terra Rocky Worlds that everyone seems to leave behind. But that's just me and my OCD kicking in, I can't leave an object untagged once I jump in. Don't feel the urge to scan it if someone else's name is there, but can't leave an undiscovered undiscovered.

Where can you find out how exactly many bodies have your tag according to ED?

On the side I have been keeping a rough total, but nowhere near exact. EDSM keeps a tally, but that pertains only to those reported to it by commanders who have signed on to EDSM.

Congrats.
I lasted 2 months before I fired up a new exploration vessel. The nebula keep calling us.

On the side I have been keeping a rough total, but nowhere near exact. EDSM keeps a tally, but that pertains only to those reported to it by commanders who have signed on to EDSM.

I started by cataloguing from the beginning. If I jump into a system that have potential first discoveries, I take a screen shot ensuring the system name is in the screenshot. I do that to all that I find on the trip, of course, I convert all the screenshots to jpgs to save on space. At the end of the trip, after I sell the data, I go back to all my screenshots and verify if I got the tag, if so, I take another screenshot of each object so that I know what it is, and I take that data and place it into a spreadsheet, the spreadsheet just basically keeps track of location and number of object types. Takes time to do all this, but the time I do it is while I am on the next exploring trip, while traveling the long distances to that far off object or star, I am in the galaxy map screenshotting all my prior trips first discoveries and placing them into my spreadsheet.

It was unfortunate, but I used to have one spreadsheet and I didn't save my screenshots. Then my spreadsheet became corrupted and I lost all the data, had 11535 first discoveries at the time. Most of those first discoveries were pre update that gave you the "visited" stars option. It took me 4 months of going into the gal map and rebuilding the database, I had a rough idea where I had gone exploring and had to follow a trail of stars to find some of those lost first discoveries by checking the red unvisited stars and seeing if I could pull up the system map, then I would try to find the next star that I may have jumped to, once I found one system, then I could locate the 'trail' and go to each system and check it for first discoveries. I found all but 204 objects. After that I learned, I have the spreadsheet saved in multiple locations and I keep all my screenshots in 2 different locations, and yes, right now I have over 42k screenshots saved on two different drives. Maybe one day will take the time to try to find those 204 missing objects....

I wish that FDev would devise a search system to locate all your first discoveries by commander name, I mean, I ain't a programmer, but the information is saved somewhere, it shouldn't be too difficult to devise some kind of search program...hell, I would even pay a fee to have them give me a printout of where all my first discoveries are located, would be a big help in locating those lost first discoveries.
