Just got my Thrustmaster flight HOTAS X .. and oh boy ....

I have been playing ED since premium beta on an x-box pad, so up until yesterday it was the only control method I had tried, so I got pretty efficient with it .. Fighting, docking at speed all pretty comfortably..

I have just been practicing with my new joystick and WHAT a difference !! ... I definitely need to practice some more (docking safely is a bit of a challenge ATM :) ) but the control and the precision with the new stick is fantastic .. If you haven't already I seriously recommend investing in a hotas set up.

Now I have to learn to fly all over again ... it's fantastic :D

Just thought I would let you know ...

And what a bargain too.

I'm sort of hoping mine might malfunction at some point so I have an excuse to buy an x52, but it seems to be built of recycled tank tracks so far.

Simply do not know how they make them so cheap and with such a level of quality.

Cheers

Love mine too. I was going to go for something more expensive but thought I'd wait and see how much I played ED. Now if this one breaks Im just going to get another!

Oh yes, the joystick is the king for the price.
Mine allready got into the "squeaky state" and i think of applying some silicon spray.
It has earned me my first million in game and has accompanied me on numerous trips,
it had withheld my stupidity trying to fly the ship the first days.

Now it is a veteran, with a fleshed out keybinding and i cannot think of another way to fly elite.

I got one as well and it's great. If it just had 2-3 more buttons I don't think I would ever upgrade.

Playing ED 4 months with T FlightX , Fantastic Hotas setup, combine with voice attack & Head Tracer IR5, makes flying in ED a breeze.
Mostly Bounty Hunt for credits. this setup does everything you want. Highly recommend to all players.

Here's a quick guide how to do it:
- Invite friends that have kids.
- Put the Hotas safely on your computer which in turn is safely placed on top of the table, far out of reach of the kids.
- Forget to hide away the USB cable.
- Et voila, you've got your broken Hotas! Gravity is a b***h, isn't she?

Immediately bought another one though and it's just as good as the first one. Personally I far prefer it over the X52 which I also own. If the Warthog had a neutral throttle position (which AFAIK it doesn't) that would really cry out to me though.

Its an amazing stick sold it to my mate who's playing elite aswell and bought myself the x55 rhino as i needed moah BUTTONS and SWITCHES, Wish i kept the hotas x to play at lunchtime at work instead of using the xbox pad :(

This <--- ! The Thrustmaster Hotas X in combination with a Headtracker is a blast... Both toghter scored around 70 € and are the money worth ! I will never again play with mouse & keyboard. The next big thing will be a Oculus. But in 3 to 6 month. Need to upgrade my GPU first. By the way... what GPU is needed for FHD gaming ? If i get a DK2 i will use downsampling to increase to optics. Ideas Cmdrs ?

GTX980 x4 GB Vram x 2 in SLI mode seems to be good setup, not sure if one card would cut it running Oclus Rift
Cheers!

Jim, I play with the Rift down sampled from 1440p with my overclocked gtx 780. I had to set all the settings on low to achieve the 60-75fps though.

It was the same thing for me. Bought the T-flight, and loved it. But just couldn't stop myself from wanting all the bells and whistles of the X52 Pro. And while the T-flight was great for the money spent, it doesn't hold a torch to the X52 Pro, night and day. Once you can figure out all the software and setting up different modes, there's nothing you can't map to the X52. Worth every penny.

I've been trying out various Thrustmaster X setups todays, but after a couple of months of mouse & keyboard I'm finding it difficult to adjust at the moment. I'll keep persevering though ;)

Some tips for TFlight..

For some reason the default TFlight config had Lights and Landing gear mapped oddly. I recommend checking and making sure that Landing gear is L and Lights are ; so they work with voice command and other stuff.

I set my throttle paddle to go left and right on sub menus.

I set the hat switch to be up/down/left/right straff thrusters for landing.

Voice Attack added in and there is no reason to go to a stick with more buttons.

Ive been hoping my Cyborg would break for about 7 years now. I can't even begin to compute how many leagues this thing has gone in various games and its still solid as a rock.

Yep, I tries mouse and keyboard on the first day and was horrified. Bought a T flight HOTAS X and it completely changed the game - absolutely brilliant. Happy flying, mate!

The first few minutes/hours will be rough till your muscle memory kicks in and your work out a layout that makes sense to you, but I went from "oh my god that rock is coming toward me!" to docking completely 'rally style' in nothing

I just ALMOST smashed my new cobra for trying in an outpost a fast direct landing from above (perpendicular to the pad) and man... that was fun if a bit silly with 370k of ship and another 200k of equipment...

Man haha, I'm the same way. Do you ever get to cocky with it sometimes? I came in hot in my Asp with 2,000,000cr worth of cargo onboard and no shields last night, and some how got all wrapped up in the circular walkways at the very back of the station(I didn't even realize that's what they were since I had never been so close). I had to slowly back out because I couldn't go forward. At 66% haul, I had a 65k repair bill. I took it slow for the rest of the evening.
