just got the lenovo explorer....settings with gtx 1080?

Just got the lenovo explorer today. Couldnt pass it up at $199 free shipping.
In the past ive owned both the dk2 rift and cv1 rift but its been so long that I forget what settings to use. I remember using supersampling in one and not the other for some reason.

Just updated windows 10 and nvidia drivers....
Installed the windows mixed reality.... set ipd.
Then re-installed steam vr and just downloaded windows mixed reality app for steam.

Now I need to figure out how to set Elite for using the lenovo.
Running 7700k , gtx 1080, 16gb

What vr quality should I use and hmd or supersampling settings?

Thanks guys!

I'm no VR expert, but since no one else has responded... You should look at this thread... https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/274325-How-to-get-Elite-in-VR-looking-CRYSTAL-CLEAR-D

TL;DR Try setting your in-game Graphics / Quality to VR High and then set Super-Sampling to 1.0, then try setting Steam VR / Settings / Video / Application Resolution / Manual Override to 1.5 and enable Display Frame Timing and check Show in Headset. I'd recommend starting ED in the Training section with the Docking and Travel scenario. While you are in the station, inspect your framerate. If it's too low, you can decrease your Application Resolution. If the framerate is very high, you can increase your Application Resolution or try using VR Ultra in-game (remembering to reset the SS to 1.0).

The training. scenarios are not representative of the game.

Expect actual gameplay to take at least 50% more resources than a training scenario.
Since the training has scaled down to no AI and practically no physics simulation.

So a setting that provide smooth 90 in the training scenario would easily lock you down to reprojection in actual game play.

General settings:

While docked top deck at a busy space station:
Set high vr settings
Adjust hmd quality setting until you see substantial impact on fps. Typically 1.25

Hmd quality setting is in my opinion the best tool by far to optimise vr.

Good luck and congrats. :)

I havnt had much time to mess with it but did play in vr a couple hours the other night.
If I remember right I set vr high, ss to 1.25 and hmd quality to 1.25.
Was pretty impressed with this cheap windows headset.
Tracking was great, resolution was a noticeable step up from the cv1, and text was very easy to read. The sweet spot is kind of small and blacks are a dark gray but there was no smearing or god ray glare I remember in the rift. Very pleased with this 200usd headset!
