Just got Vive..wow. now need to tweak

So I just dipped my toe into VR, splashed the cash on a Vive, omg what a difference, the scale, views.

So now I need to get the most out of it.
System spec.
Ryzen 1700
16gb ram
Gtx 1080

What are the recommended settings for a balanced vr experience

Best driver
In game settings
Vive tips and hidden features/tweaks

Thanks in advance

It is amazing isnt it..... i simply have not been able to play ED any other way since getting my dk2 back in premium beta.

i cant help you re the vive as i have a rift, but with that rig, i would guess just slap it on vr ultra and be good to go?.

driver wise i have been hearing good things about nvidias most recent driver along with the most recent windows build giving a nice boost for vr..... i have not tried it yet however.

oh and get dr kaii's ED tool it is great for tinkering with settings

With your Gtx and CPU I recommend In game :
SS 1.0 , HMD Quality 1.75~2.0 , and AA and Shadow Off ( or low) , render target set 3/4 of the slider, blur OFF , also use custom quality settings in quality panel , do not use VR presets , most textures settings don't have impact on FPS but looks nicer , So go for High /Ultra

Below is important :

In steam VR app : set Asynchronous Rep. ON , Always Reprojection ON ( this setting balancing GPU/CPU) , Advanced Filter off.

Don't listen Rifters ( sorry guys ) I have convinced myself that they set VR , especially this game in different way .

Is this purely an Elite setting recommendation, or is it the better setting for all Vive gaming?
(I've only had the thing for a week or 2 and playing roomscale games at moment.... will get to Elite soon)

I’m using this settings for all sim games. I dont even bother to change something during casual roomscale games. But intensive room based AAA titles like Skyrim/Fallout/Doom VFR might not working optimal with „reprojection allways on” , read here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comme...n_reprojection_looks_way_better_than/d8237fx/

Edit , forgot to meantion : when you set all settings at steam vr app. please shut down steam and steam vr app, run Elite directly from ED launcher, you should get some extra FPS in game this way..
