Just how big IS the Bubble?!

So, I've been spending the past week outfitting my Cobra for exploration, and I recently got my invitation from Felicity Farseer, and I'm chomping at the bit to just GO - to head out into the void and see what's there. My FSD isn’t top line - jump range is 11 ly - but I figure I should be able to pay for a proper upgrade after a suitable first expedition. There's just one problem.

I'm currently resting at Asellus Primus, and as I'm starting to learn, the sphere of highlighted stars in the Galaxy Map does NOT show the whole of the Bubble. Instead I can only see about a 70-80 ly radius around any selected star. So, as the title asks, how big is the Bubble? How far should I plan to travel before I actually reach the edge of colonized space?

Thanks in advance.

roughly 250 ly ... the bubble isn't a ball, but after ~250-300 ly in any direction from sol you'll only hit some systems, which work as outposts ... the investment system of exphiay... the sirius corporation founded colonies of sothis, ceos, robigo, almagest etc., the imperial tourism system of quince ... and some more. and then there are the alliance research facilities at the california nebula, 800 ly out, and the "new bubble" around the cyborg jaques called colonia.

Thanks, goemon. That gives me a good measuring stick. I didn't know about the Alliance research facilities at the California Nebula, so that gives me a target for my second expedition.

Not big at all. Not even slightly. It's tiny. I just got back to it and the entire size of the bubble was an afterthought, a final spurt to whizz through in 20 minutes. :D

Seriously, it's a rough spheroid with a radius of a couple of hundred light years. It looks big from the inside but if you fly in one direction for a week or two (at not-serious-Buckyballer speeds) and look back then it will appear small and the other side of the galaxy will still look very, very far away.

Ha Ha yes the bubble seemed so large and intimidating back in the day when I was there.
My RL friend plays, always in the bubble.
250LY's to him is a lot of distance.

To an explorer that's peanuts.

One day I went forth hard-core to do a meet-up -- totally against my style of playing.
I went 6,700Ly's that day. (6.7k)
@ 300LY's I could have gone back and forth in the bubble 22 times.
In the grand scheme of the galaxy the "bubble" is a fart in the wind.

If you stick the map filter to power play that's pretty much the bubble
