Have you tried this and the UA remained in your ship's cargo? I suppose you will need to log back into Horizons when you get to the alien nest ...

You don't need to unlock Palin to buy Racks off him.

But you do need to know where he is so maybe Qwent needs unlocking.

I have unlocked Qwent and gotten an invite from Palin but his base is not visible until I clock over 5k ly from the starting system.

That doesn't work, you have to have your own ua.

Not true at all you can follow someone in, also once your in you can get out holding nothing. Doors will open anyway.

My Asp has a 36 ly jump range but I have been putting off making jumping around 280 jumps for a return trip b/c exploration is not my cup of tea unless I go with a friend

Thx, I bought myself halfway into level 4 at Quent last night, got the invite from Palin and I was wondering if I couldn't simply go to his outfitting shop and buy the CRCR without getting 25 fragments first!!!

You saved me a lot of work!

Yep, you need to make 5k ly from your starting system before you can land on his base. Also, I don't believe you can buy the special rack from him until you donate 25 Unknown Fragments to him.

You can buy them as soon as you have the invite, but the 25 fragments are not hard anyway. Might as well do them if you are in the area

I just bought a CRCR without doing the 25 fragments. Otherwise, Palin has little of interest.

I carried a freshly collected UP to the crash site where I got my UA.

Then I flew straight to the alien base (being corroded the whole time).

When I got there I stupidly got distracted by the distres beacon and went to investigate.

Just before I got to the alien base planet my cargo hold finally fell apart like Hobor Mallow's nappy after a night down the boozer and it's entire contents fell out (see previous Hobor Mallow reference ... sorry, I'm really quite p%ssed now).

So errr yeah ... they're about that corrosive.
