Hi Cmdrs,

I'm glad that I have quite a few TV programs saved as I will be watching a lot of TV now that I am considering leaving ED.[down]

Yes, it's another cry baby post so go on have a pop at me as you usually do.

Just to say the reason, I have been with ED since beta but these new interdictions have done it in for me.[sad]

I stored my conda due to losses and a bugged docking computer and swapped to an asp explorer with good shields, power unit and boost speed to try a few mission and a little cargo hauling, that didn't work.

The NPC who killed me is welcome to 62 tons of bio waste he gained, I hope he gets well irradiated.:D

No matter what I did to escape he nailed me very quickly and yes I know how to escape I have tried all the tricks but this is the second ship I have lost in an hour.

ED was fun and I was starting to enjoy the engineers and horizons but the fun has gone out of it now, it's to much stress to play and I do not need any more in my life.

So apart from TV I'll be looking for another game to play in a while.

The game FINALLY is challenging, this is a good thing.. Perhaps you preferred the static 'cannon fodder' garbage npc's of 2.0, most of us did not.

You just need to use your headmeat and adapt, evolve new tactics, new skills.

@ OP

I will not take a snipe at you not disparage you. There is enough of that Tom foolery around here.

But I'm discouraged to hear your frustrations. Can you please elaborate on your escape and evasion tactics? Perhaps we can help.

I'm sure you know most of these but I'll list a few tips just in case:

1. Always plot a course to a nearby system before (or during) an interdiction for high wake scenarios.

2. When arriving into a system always keep an eye on comm chatter. NPC love to advertise intent.

3. Zig zag as you approach your destination when in SC.

4. Carry mines. Makes small ships go boom. And if you mod them they can inhibit the NPC FSD.

5. When submitting interdiction turn to face NPC and boost past him. The addition time for NPC to turn around is more time for you to escape without getting shot at.

Hope this helps a bit

Did he follow you when you high-waked away? That would be very worrying.

What's your combat rating?

Did you gain it over the last 18 months while the NPCs were rubbish? :(

I wiped my save. Now I'm Mostly Harmless and having a great time.:D

Good luck OP. There are many like you at this moment in time. I hope things improve in a way that both sides can live with, but I'm not building my hopes up. With some of the fellow players showing their true nature, a break may just be what the doctor ordered, I may join you very soon. I'm messing around with Hearts of iron 4 atm til a patch comes (IF...). All the best! 07

I Hear you OP

Here is my current view..

So I get it FD... you want us to go out and spend hours grinding for engineer materials now so we can match these NPC superships all kitted out and fully engineered. Good thinking not.

Some of us do not have hours and hours to spend on what is essentially entertainment. Some of us work and have families to support and inter-act with. Some of us have already spent hours grinding away to buy a decent ship or two. (Not Robigo grinding either). Some of us want to enjoy blowing up enemy ships, pirating NPC's, mining some stuff, carting some cargo, doing the odd mission while knowing that there is a very good chance of making some credits and actually returning alive with a ship still reasonably intact.

Since 2.1 I have now gone into survival mode literally. I have made 2 trips to Felicty whatever her name is to see if I could boost something to help only to find I am missing 90% of the jigsaw pieces.. I have tried pirating NPC with my A rated python only to find that there are hardly any cargo ships out there now, mainly beefed up fighters, and have not found a single tonne of scientific samples since 2.1.
A python rated master now chews me up firing blue balls of fire so fast no amount of chaff or point defence makes a blind bit of difference and I manage to escape with 40% hull, and big repair bill. And yes I have 5A shields, plus shield cells plus 5A hull reinforcement and yes I was using pip management to try and keep my shields up, and yes I have modified my ship somewhat by going back to turret bursts and increasing shield and hull strength.
My FAS manages to hold its own but I now stay away from wings, anaconda's and clippers that all used to be fair game and a challenge. Now they just kick my butt and spit out the pieces for some engineer to craft at a later date. It takes me twice as long to maintain my PP Rating 4 credits in combat now.

I belong to a clan that had a good few playing ED, most stopped some time ago because of the grind factor. Several came back to look at 2.1 engineers, but not surprisingly they never stayed more than a day.

2.1 while showing some promise is not showing much love, and is not going to keep me in the game much longer despite the fact that I hate throwing away hours of invested time. It is not so entertaining any more. Rethink it FD, your customers can be a fickle bunch.

I guess you haven't noticed that the devs removed the engineer combat mods.

Yes I have, and that made a small bit of difference, but the python that almost took me out last night was engineered very high and it was not elite or deadly, I never stood a chance even with MG composite bulkheads and only just managed to highwake. So at the moment the game very likely suits the high end skilled players, but for those who play on a more casual basis I predict FD will lose them to other similar games coming on line now. Just saying...

Why didn't you just drop some of your worthless bio-waste? Seriously the npcs are super lenient you could have probably dropped 2 tons and he would have left you alone

A cobra can outrun anything and still do most missions, including planetary landing and combat. It's a safe ship to be in. Maybe give it a another try in a more nimble ship?? Also if the NPC is smarter, then your internal security NPCs are also smarter. Helping them kill stuff just got easier.

Good luck.

Impressive, it took only 12 minutes after OP for the "Git Gud" squad to arrive.

This is all good stuff. I might swap out Point Defence for Mines given the current high risk/high stakes state of the galaxy.

I don't really agree, but you put the point very well indeed. I wish there were more posts like this one.

Please understand I'm not knocking you, I know people have issues with this game, I'm among them, but I also use the Asp Explorer for cargo missions, I've found it to be a good ship for escaping, currently only has one hard point, a muticannon, I invest heavily in defense, shields. ecm and chaff, but the main thing I exploit is submitting, then start stabbing on the thrusters, submitting gives a faster cool down of FSD.

It is discouraging to see people leave, but having experienced the frustration myself, I understand, a game is about having fun at the end of the day, if you're not having fun, then it's no longer a game, it's a chore.

to the OP - I felt the same way... until....

Earlier today I posted a very similar thread.... well after some good advice given in that thread (Argus Leadhead to be exact) I am overjoyed to tell Traders (both mission based and normal) and for that matter anyone whom is struggling with Interdictions that there is hope.

That hope comes in the form of Mines (Proximity damage and Shock varieties)

Tonight, I have tested this with both a well shielded and equipped Conda and a Python, and all that I can say is happiness is mine shaped :D

Please try them out for yourselves. It would take me ages to upload videos of what they do but I can personally confirm that an Elite FAS was given a rude death by a swarm of the mines released easily behind me as I gave him the gesture of good will to all men.

Rejoice CMDR's, it does indeed look like FD have given us a balance to the Elite, Deadly and Dangerous foes, which was driving me away from the game.

I'm always happy to learn and I am so glad I posted for the first time today and wish FD had publicised this more as it might have mitigated the depression its caused to me and others. Thanks again to Argus Leadhead

Does the OP work on a fruit and veg stall? That's the only place I commonly see such flagrant disregard for the correct usage of apostrophes.

I feel your grammatical pain. It hurts me to keep seeing on this forum Anaconda's, Cmdr's, etc. And don't get me started on Asp being written in all capital letters.

;)
