Just joined alpha.. yay!

Finally did the move! Had to do job overtime which came in at the right time. I have just joined to the Alpha! :) To be honest i am rather glad to support this. Its better be good! Hahaha.

Now waiting for my X55 :) During that time i can still use my Logitech Extreme 3D.

Welcome Commander!!

It's been great being part of the Alpha, seeing such an amazing project come together and being a small contributor to its success.

I didn't regret signing up and I hope you don't either.

Next stop, Alpha phase 4, bring it on!!

:D:D:D

Congrats and welcome aboard! :)

Have a great time checking things out and logging tickets. Still plenty of bugs to work through.

Welcome to the ALFA commander if you want any help tips or hints their are a lot of commanders willing to help in any way we can to get you started .

Guess there will be a further rush to join Alpha in the days before the deadline.

In your case rushino, what triggered your decision to purchase at this late stage?

Welcome aboard the Alpha train :)

Standard recommendations are to work through the single player missions to get to grips with the controls then enter the frey - First multiplayer instance is docking at the space station so at least get to grips with the flight controls (vertical thrusters key bind and the landing gear!!) :D

Welcome aboard commander. I just upgraded myself last week and have been immensely enjoying it.

Free for all seems to be the easiest way to earn money to buy that Cobra mk3, but they seem to just randomly blow up for me, so I am sticking with the Sidewinder for now.

Thanks a lots guys! :)

To be honest, i didn't either. Sure this was a lots of cash but i see this as project support like you and many others. I am myself a programmer and i know its hard to make a game cause i am currently making one so support is always welcome!

Well, i just couldn't resist. I was the videos and they were awesome! I wanted to wait for my joystick to come in.. but i am pretty sure i won't get it this week or next week.. so why waiting when i was pretty sure to join the alpha just before 25th. Plus, this game remind me a lots of Freespace 2 which was really cool. Multiplayer through and ability to equip your ship in the way you want is really appealing to me.. and i didn't included the other godness that are coming in this game during the year.

Welcome aboard Commander, you won't regret upgrading, I haven't, no way I could have waited for standard beta :D

Same! :)

Welcome, the game is so much better being played than watching all them you tube videos.

True haha!

Good to know! Look like i won't regret anything!

I have a question through... How do you get access to the backers area ? Do you have to use the same account of the forum once you have access to alpha forum ?

Thanks!

Hi Rushino
Firstly thank you for backing the game to the Alpha level! Have fun with it. Now to your question regarding Alpha forum access, if you don't see the Alpha forum listed after a few days when you normally log into the main forum, drop Ashley Barley, of Frontier support, a PM to get your access sorted out for you. :)

I do see it now but there is also a backer area and it ask for an account when i start the client. Do i have to use the same one as forum or online store ? otherwise where do we create the account ?

Thanks!

Hi Rushino. For the Private Backers Forum, yes you would use the same log in as the forum, again if you cant see it do contact Ashley as he handles all the permissions for the different forum sections.

I envy you sir !!!

The final game is so close (ok a few months away) and Alpha keeps calling my name like Sirens wanting to smash my wallet against the rocks...

I can afford it... but something is making me hold off... I'll add it to the cart.. get to checkout and then... logout... maybe if they have more payment options than PayPal and Barclays Smartpay they might get more people in on it...

Welcome, Commander!

I joined the Alpha myself just last week.

I'm still going through the "tutorial" missions myself, setting up and programming my CH HOTAS, and simply getting reaquainted with the behaviour of ships in the Elite universe in general, and their behaviour in Elite: Dangerous in particular.

Guess there will be a further rush to join Alpha in the days before the deadline.

I know I'm not rushino, but I hope you don't mind if I answer your question myself.

Three things motivated MY upgrading from Kickstarter Standard Beta to Alpha

First and foremost: Impatience. Watching all those youtube videos, and knowing I won't be able to get my hands on it for who knows how long? Sheer agony.

Second was the "insurance discount controversy." Not really interested in the discount myself, but it did motivate me to at least see how expensive it was to upgrade to Alpha, vs my previous plan to upgrade to Premium Beta after Alpha was over.

Finally was price. It wasn't nearly as expensive as I expected it to be, though your mileage may vary. Thanks to Minecraft and indy games taking the place of the console games I might have bought these last three years, I had enough money in my "New Games Jar" to afford upgrading it.

I've been enjoying myself so far, but I wish I had more time to play.
