Engineers Just keeps on rolling??

Hi, i new to engineering and have a query:

Using the first Engineer you encounter typically (felicity whatever) and Thrusters as an example. I generated my first roll for G1 and and it completed approx 1/4 of the roll, the second generation completed approx another 1/4 and the third approx the same. So i figured that each time you generate, it completes approx 1/4, except another THREE rolls later and it would'nt complete the G1 upgrade...infact generating seemed to move the dial about 1mm!! each time?

Then i was given the option to carry out G2, and generated that, which completed the G1 upgrade, again a similair case of 3 rolls for the first 3/4 of the upgrade and a further 4 ROLLS to get within, but not completed, G2!

Now, i was given the oppotunity to carry out G3 and once again a similar situation had occured...the last 1/4 of G3 took 3 rolls to get within 2mm, and a further 3 rolls to get another 1mm from completing.

What is happening here???

Bad luck? More prayers to RNGesus... I assume this is your first visit to this engineer and your are building rank. Once you are rank 5, the rolls per grade are reduced on your next module.

You are starting G2 as soon as you unlock it? You don't need to complete G1 before starting G2, the first G2 roll 'completes' G1. Though get ready for the same issue on G5 ;)

Wait till you expend a ton of MEF trying to complete the circles on a multicannon G5 mod - aaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........

I'm just trading for DWE since 3.3 and yes I could trade for MEF but I have a MEF farm close by so just need to go do some more circuits - it is just that I find that the G5 mc mods really eat MEF.
