Just logged in today, and i realised something

I realised that before 2.1, i logged back out again within 10 minutes, eventually taking a break for 2 months.

Before 2.1 i just never saw a reason to do anything, i was left thinking "what can i do" or "where do i need to go" the answer was nothing and no where. Now i log in knowing what i want to get today, or work towards achieving. Love or hate the extra stuff in 2.1 and engineers, surely most have to agree, there is so much more content, (even if you love it or hate it). For me a good reason to log in knowing beforehand what my plan for the next few hrs will be.

lol. (at me).
Yes and no!

I totally agree with the "planning what to do next" idea.
"Right, I need material x. I can get it from combat zones. Off we go". It's good and I like it.

It's when it comes to the surface content I just can't be dealing with. "Right, I need material z. Let's go to a planet and bounce around for 3 hours getting.....nothing."
Also, the cargo side of engineers. I could do missions to get them, but I'll be a marked target until I get all the resources needed for that precious upgrade. In nnn hours of game time. What happens if I need / want to swap to a smaller ship?

I'm deciding whether to stick with the shooty aspect of collecting - hoping that the tedious (to me) prospecting gets some love, or I'll start back onto the grand old games backlog I have.

I'm also a little concerned that although many people are stating that we DON'T need engineer upgrades......that this is FOR THE MOMENT.
What happens when FD give the NPCs their shiny toys back? Surely the engineer upgrades will be essential to track down and "play" with Thargoids too?

Anyway, lunch time over...back to work ;-)

What is the difference to the time when Horizon was new? Or back in time at the beginning of E: D?
Where will you be in 1 or 2 month?

I think people are focussing on the Engineers to much regarding 2.1. Sure, it's the headline feature, but for me it's just 5% of all the great stuff they added and changed with the update.

Tell me about planning to find Arsenic, please.

I think it's mostly on high metal content worlds. I found a bunch of it on Deciat 1, right down the road from Farseer Inc.

I want to say I got 2 Arsenic in about ~20 minutes or so from metallic meteorites on the surface (they show up as a single line at the bottom of the SRV's wave scanner along with a screeching metallic sound.)

Just take the landing easy, don't descend too fast. It is a 1.21G planet. Nice and slow and you should be fine.

I found arsenic easily just by mining, and on planet surfaces, i was looking for other stff as is usually the case, but i take anything i don't have any or much of. And to answer another post, the difference with when Horizons launched was that the main thing was planet landing and the SRV, but without anything to use them for.

I agree with many that searching for 'things' can be quite.....frustrating, even tedious at times.
However, it's not so bad really and I'm sure Frontier will add into the game a more intelligent way to search for 'things' at some point.
It definately adds more goals into the mix as you say, which overall is a good thing depth wise.
My first priority is/was to upgrade all my FSD drives just so I can reach places quicker. :)
Flimley.
