Just lost 6 million in credits!

You need to adjust the way you game. Problem solved.

My cat has a great sense of balance. He could dock a Viper no problem, if I ever let him get near the computer that is.

Problem with cat pilots is when they start bounty hunting. They will corner and immobilise their target, but then take forever tormenting it before delivering the kill shot. This is obviously griefing and cats should be banned from the game, or nerfed.

Take this from the simulator's point of view. Imagine you're the pilot. You set your docking computer, then you get up, leave the cockpit, and go to the jacks while you trust the ship to just fly itself into a complicated parking manoeuvre on the inside of a rotating space station. I'd say the station authorities would revoke your licence if they caught you doing that.

There are some real nasty people around here. It's sad that since I have joined ED. Most of the good people have left. Only a few of us left. For now...

The DC is a joke! It does not matter if you watch it or not. Three times my ship just stopped in the middle of the letterbox. No traffic (solo) and controls went dead every time. Nothing you could do. Timer then speeds up and death. It's a nasty bug. Credit to ED as the first time it happened they gave me back my credits. Those were the good days.

A month ago it happened again. I still used the DC as I was confident ED would give back any credits. But this time I am on ignore. Lost something like 20 mil due to DC and credits disapearing or cargo simply going awol. Really no joy for me at the moment. Had to sell my Conda (oh no!!!!) and lost many millions trying to get back to my conda. Very frustrating stuff. And I still love the sim. But I have gone from several hours a day to not playing anymore. It's the lack of support I miss. Hope they get on top soon.

I would say just ignore the ideots. Don't even reply to them. But the advise to never leave the sim until you have safely docked is a good one. And I believe we have a big update coming soon and hope they get the baseline up to a fair standard.

So, you have done the right thing sending in a ticket. The chances are you will get your credits back but I doubt I will get mine. No problem. I will go with all the other good people and find something better to do with my time.

Goods luck and hope you get your credits back soon. ED is a great sim and one day I am sure it will be ready for the masses.

Thanks Papa.
Video evidence will be live in about 20 mins, link is here below, sometimes the docking computer does what it does in the video until station defenses destroy you as you run out of time!
Or the ship will remain to the left as it is in the video but continuously bang into the floor trying to reach the center with no success, the end result being that the station defenses destroy you once again.
I lost 6 million credits because of this bug! Whether im at my PC or not at my PC, its a docking computer that should "Dock your ship" no matter what.
This seems to happen more when your ship is fully laden or full of cargo more than when its unladen or no cargo.
Anyhow Goodnight, i have to be up for work in less than 6 hrs, what a waste of a night tbh, not happy at all considering i paid £200 ie Kickstarter backer from day 1 and im going to be tired in the morning all because of this game and my passion to get things sorted out.

Guys, please. While some people may have been ribbing the OT unfairly, NOONE has been a fanboy suggesting that everything is all right with the DC in Elite Dangerous or said something like "the DC is ok, must have been your fault for not using it correctly."

On the contrary. Everyone (including the two of you!) KNOW that it is flawed and sometimes acts unexpectedly and may crash your ship or get you blown up by a station. Nevertheless you knowingly chose to use it anyway. You even chose to leave in unattended, even though you are aware that it might cause you trouble and you might lose money.

Let's take some examples:
- If you knew from friends and media that a certain product you were desperate to buy, was a complete ripp-off and not worth the wrapping it ships in, would you buy it anyway?
- If you were sitting in your car in front of you satnav programming you destination, and you knew from experience the satnav may take you the wrong way of you chose "fastest route", would you use "fastest route" anyway?

Of course you wouldn't. Because you know better. And if you did anyway, whose fault would have been if anything went south? Take a guess!

Believe me if I say: I can 100% understand that you are angry that the damn DC didn't work. I really can.
BUT RESPONSIBILITY not only lies with the manufacturer (programmer) but also with the user. I expect you to be a breathing and thinking human being. And as such you are responsible for the decisions you make. And if you willingly decide to do something you know might bring you harm, or to be pontentially dangerous, you have to own up. So be angry at the Docking Computer for trashing you ship. You have every right to be. But be also angry at yourself for letting the DC fool you into thinking it might magically be perfect all of a sudden.

You Americans have a saying right? "Fool me once: shame on you. Fool me twice: shame on ME"

Dont persecute me for something in the game that is broken, its not my fault.

It's completely your fault sir. Any pilot that would leave the cockpit while in flight, get's what they deserved. ED punishes laziness and carelessness severely. Perhaps now you will learn your lesson? Perhaps not...

Wow That's a lot of spondoolys to lose. My recent 1/2 mill seems triffle now, But hey NEVER trust anything auto then leave it (more so with that sort of loot) a new player could have just as easily side swiped you, if at controls you could have had a chance to save all, but being on the loo with 6 mil on auto wow you have faith :) I feel ya though (Y) Chin up and onward and none of this quitting business a lesson learnt the hard way bug or not Just remember this " NO POOPING* WHILE DOCKING" :) had to change this from Sh*tting :p

See ya out there Cmdr !!

Got my credits back. Was advised to be careful while using the docking computer while some changes are made.
Can we please now close this thread.

P.s. I also stick my 2 fingers to people who said not to give me my credits back. At the end of the day I found a bug and I should be commended and not condemned as I have been here.

A big difference between the forum today and ddf section of the forum 2 years ago.
No wonder many of the kickstarter people no longer post here or keep a low profile.
Shows what kind of place that this forum has become by some.
Anyhow as they say in usa "up yours" to those that deserve it.
LOL

Im really annoyed with this as its the second time its happened, is there anyway to get my credits back as i spent 3 evenings after work getting that 6 million.

Yet you continue to use automated docking... a feature that has been broken in every Elite game released since the introduction of the personal computer...

Negative sympathy
