Just met my first hacker in open PVP, insta shield recharge

Well it had to happen at some point, just went up in a python vs python pvp battle in a conflict zone. I get his shields down, then two seconds later, the red spinning blocks start swirling around his shield indicator at a rate which could only be described as ridiculous. He brought his downed shields back up within 10 seconds. On a python. Installing some capture software to see if I can go find the muppet again. Ouch that hurts.

Hmm I thought that is a glitch - met one FDL at some point. Got his shields down, then they went offline, then they're back up at 100%.

I combat logged after that and never had any doubts about it.

How is that possible? What's the point? Are those are some kind of kids that install BF mod that shoots everyone directly in the head? What's the fun in that?

Just remember his name and reporting him could be useful

Wait a sec. This could be a glitch.
I have had lots of npc's do this since last week.
In one system all the npc's shields came up in 10 secs max just like the OP stated. The red circle was spinning round real fast.
Other times they have just charged up too quick. About 10 secs to quick.

I haven't seen it happen on a Cmdr yet tho.

Some primitive types believe that blowing up everything shows off just how big and strong and powerful and good they are.

Then of course they start whining when their IP's get nuked. Survival of the fittest, and all that :D

It could have been lag+shield cells. I remember about 2 months ago I was fighting a "friend" in combat and on my screen, I used a shield cell in time but on his, my shields went down and I took hull damage. I ended up with 82% hull left despite my shields never going down. It was pretty strange. To him it probably looked similar to what happened to you.

not experienced it yet, but when i do i will have to note down the Cmdr's name then report him/her
I'd go farther that that. If somebody defeats you in PvP:
1) Report the commander to FDev because they are probably cheating
2) Combat log to avoid unjust penalties

You missed out on

3) log in to his router and collapse settings in NVR
4) call local emergency services from his IP
5) upgrade local router firmware with, urm, anything you like
6) LULZ

Messing with someone's router just for LULZ could get you in trouble unless you are skilled enough, but I like your thinking. 1 and 2 are a must though.

You forgot
7)Find out where he lives
8)punch him in the face
9)Rob him.

You know because how dare he attack you in a video game.
That sounds appealing as well, but also can get you into trouble. Given a choice, I would go for his router and home network. More fun this way. Less risk more reward.

7) is a given by IP unless proxy or some poxy wireless nonsense.
8) is NOT GOOD! Give people flowers or free beer
9) Donate to charity of your victims choosing
10) be nice to your fellow players :D

Just a follow up and to answer some questions.

- No, there was nothing laggy about the encounter, all motion was fluid, no stuttering or jumping.

- No, he didnt fire off any SCBs, he didnt have any equipped, just shield boosters, lasers and plasma accelerators

- I sincerely doubt it was a random glitch due to his behaviour. Not only did he enter PVP combat without a single SCB, but when his shields went down (pretty fast I might add, he really wasnt trying very hard), he didnt run, didnt try to shake me off, didnt boost away or try to get behind me, he just sat there lasering and plasma'ing away. Thinking back, Im half wondering if he was somehow manipulating his WEP capacitor too, it was non stop beams and plasma.

Ive been hanging around the same few systems for a few days keeping an eye out for him, no luck so far, but Ive got some screen capture and rewind software installed now in case he does show up.

Whether this particular encounter was an glitch or not, the fact remains - there are active, hard to detect cheats available. You just need to google for them.

Well... Easy to detect if code was added to the client that reported shield, hull, capacitor, heat and weapon fire status each second during PvP. A handful of heartbeat packets sent by each PvP participant, easy to analyse for inconsistency with low server load. No packets sent by PvE players, only if 2 commanders are in the same instance.

Lol just be glad he didn't change the value of his damage and one shot you...

But yea, screenshot (F10) report him, try to high-wake out since Combat Log is still cheating regardless of the circumstance.
