Just met my first hacker in open PVP, insta shield recharge

Just a follow up and to answer some questions.

- No, there was nothing laggy about the encounter, all motion was fluid, no stuttering or jumping.

- No, he didnt fire off any SCBs, he didnt have any equipped, just shield boosters, lasers and plasma accelerators
The fight I mentioned wasnt particularly laggy either.

Shield cells don't show up in the list of an opponents subsystems.

I'm not defending the guy just offering a time when something similar happened to me, and I wasnt hacking.

If something like that happens again just send the video to fd and let them sort it out.

- I sincerely doubt it was a random glitch due to his behaviour. Not only did he enter PVP combat without a single SCB, but when his shields went down (pretty fast I might add, he really wasnt trying very hard), he didnt run, didnt try to shake me off, didnt boost away or try to get behind me, he just sat there lasering and plasma'ing away. Thinking back, Im half wondering if he was somehow manipulating his WEP capacitor too, it was non stop beams and plasma.

Ive been hanging around the same few systems for a few days keeping an eye out for him, no luck so far, but Ive got some screen capture and rewind software installed now in case he does show up.
You said his shields went down very fast. I wonder if he had undersized shields?

I have noticed that certain type 6 transporters have shields that also recharge incredibly fast. I think those shields are the smaller type, only just big enough to offer protection. Perhaps the smaller the shield class, the faster the recharge, meaning that all shields recharge at a flat rate according to the size and settings of the power distributor.

Don't be ridiculous, this kind of vile shield rebooting vermin has no mother, he was spawned directly from Satan's Asp!

Lol just be glad he didn't change the value of his damage and one shot you...

But yea, screenshot (F10) report him, try to high-wake out since Combat Log is still cheating regardless of the circumstance.

One shot hack. Ouch. There is a funny one out it is a money hack.

It is true that when ships have undersized shields that the do recharge from offline quicker.

Happens a lot with Powerplay NPCs when undermining as they're typical running low class equipment given their low combat rank.

I've heard that

10) Something to do with his mother

is somewhat traditional, and considered good form.
yes, of course!
Oh, and if it turns out your foe is into IT:

11) get into some of his work and change some semikolons to the greek question mark U+037E :D

If you suspect any hacking, take as many details as possible and report him, let the devs decide, video's or snapshots extremely helpful.
I personally see no benefit to cheats or hackers, who spoil the game for themselves as well as others.
Imagine a hacker in BF using aimbots, he would get so used to them, that without them he becomes a totally useless gamer that couldn't hit a mansion with a cannon.
So not only ruining his games, but his skill levels as well.

It could have been lag+shield cells. I remember about 2 months ago I was fighting a "friend" in combat and on my screen, I used a shield cell in time but on his, my shields went down and I took hull damage. I ended up with 82% hull left despite my shields never going down. It was pretty strange. To him it probably looked similar to what happened to you.

Lag + shield cells wouldn't give the spinning square of shield recharge.

I've seen this one time on my wingman, and he's definitely not a cheater. He got jumped by several NCPs in CZ, initiated shield recharge, and it worked at the very last moment as his shields were about to collapse. For me it looked like his shield went down and then miraculously recovered in seconds (complete with recharging animation of running circle).

I dont think SCB shows in subsystem list. I stand corrected though.
