Just Met My First Thargoid

I'm currently making my way to the California Nebula, when I found myself transiting the Pelaides sectors. I got a bit nervous as I heard this is where the Thargoids hang out. Sure enough, on investigating a "non-human signal source" I found this: (I thought it was going to attack me as it turned red and those projectile things emerged from it, those things that attacked the ships in the 2.4 pre-launch vid. Luckily it just seemed to be examining me. I made good my escape before things got nasty.)

looks like that could have gotten intense if it attacked. I am in Tun's Wart and looking to venture out to see these things after work today. are they in all Pelaides sectors? I've been out to Cal Nebula before, maybe head back that way like you I may run into one. i saw on a you tube vid last night that some one was able to Wake Scan a Thargoid for new data. and another video that Obsidian Ant did that his first encounter with a Asp attacking one didn't go all that well for him (as expected).

I’ve heard it said that the Pleiades is where they hang out. To be honest I didn’t even know the Pleiades was in this direction from Sol. I thought it was towards the centre, so I was quite shocked when I saw that I had jumped into Pleiades.

When I dropped out of SC to investigate I was initially behind the Thargoid. He turned around to face me and it sounded like he honked at me. I tried scanning him and although I was able to lock onto him the scan just produced a string of number data. The scan got interrupted by him. He released those projectile things and they came over to say hi. The Thargoid then turned his back on me but quickly turned to face me again, and this time he flushed red. I started backing away at that point and SC’d out of there.

nice. this is what i would expect seeing something like this the first time. the 'what the hell' moment. friend? foe? something in between? we trying to figure them out, them us. i like that idea. i can't wait to see more tonight after work. i like how this patch is starting out. slow burn.

had my first run in this morning. Dropped into a Non-Human USS and found five of them loitering near The Oracle. One rammed me (maybe on accident, I'll let the insurance adjusters figure that one out), then all five of them deployed weapons, ignored my shields and did 1% hull damage, so I thought it best to skidaddle until I had more info on these threats.

Found a non-human SS last night.

Do not poke the seemingly inert Thargoid ship with a stick, they get antsy and will retaliate. :)

Good idea to have a high wake destination set before you drop in ;)

This:
My encounter was cool. After investigating my harmless ORCA, The Flowership turned and left to high wake away,
I couldn't resist and shot at him the same second that he jumped.
somehow he immediately jumped back and came at me full force..
I tried to get away, but alas,little tharglets had destroyed my FSD and Thrusters within seconds.
Twas a 2.5 mil CR Rebuy just to fulfill my curiosity.
lol Totally not worth it guys.
Just let it be [alien][cool]

Bumped into a couple don't want to say to much in case it spoils things and one pulled me out of my light jump, all good fun tbh. Didn't end well.

Edit got some cracking screen shots would up load if only I knew how on this site................
