Engineers Just my tuppence on the Engineers update

I have been playing ED from the beginning, was a Kickstarter backer and all that and have spent more hours than I care to mention playing the game. For me though the game has had some of the fun taken away.
This update has seen some amazing additions. The whole crafting thing is great the User Interface improvements are great. But, and yes you probably know where I am going with this, the Ai difficulty is too much. I am not a hotshot combat pilot but I have learned to pick my battles and dodge and weave and run and return and have done reasonably well. I do think some of the higher rank ships were too easy to take down, particularly where deadly and Elite were as easy master ranked in a lot of cases. For the second time in a couple of days though I have been taken from full shields (with four pips in) and military grade hull to nothing in more or less a second. Just bam - gone. The first time it happened I was coming out of a station so I sort of assumed I must have caught on the toast rack but tonight that was definitely not the case.
Sorry to add a post about this when I know this is a highly contentious subject at the moment.
Please Frontier, have another look at this. I am totally sympathetic of those who are highly skilled combat pilots who were finding it all a bit too easy, but surely there can be a balance between the old Ai and the new.
Also another thing I am interested in, how does this all effect peoples current combat rankings? Does it devalue the ranking for all those who have got to Elite in combat before now or is there a change in the number of ships you need to kill for each rank now?
And community please don’t jump on this thread with all the tiresome “git gud” “adapt” and other non helpful replies. I would very much like a chance to get better and adapt but I can’t see how I can do this when there seems to be such an imbalance.
