I really, really wanted to like DBX...
First of all, I saw it as a cheaper alternative to the Asp (which I dearly love, but I've flown it to death now) - good jump-range, 4 utility slots, interesting hardpoints and, what I though at the moment, were decent enough internal slots. I could even live with the lower-than-usual manoeuvrability and lack of open-bottom cockpit.
But then I wanted to do more than just min-weight equip it and send it off to the black. And that's where this vessel came up short; to be exact -- at least one internal slot short, IMO. Let me give you two examples:
All this could be helped (and would GREATLY benefit this ship) by adding even a single one size 1 internal... I know that the ship frame is quite small, but then again so is a size 1 slot (a cargo rack of that size fits only two standard containers, so...).
Furthermore, in between the beta stages (2 and 3, if memory serves), a lot of ships had a size 1 slot added for free, to accommodate the default-mounted Basic Discovery Scanner! Yeah, even tiny ones, like the Sidewinder. I really don't think this would be too 'unbalancing' to add one to a lot of newer models out there, to give them more flexibility in trying to fulfil different roles.
On the other hand, the problem might lie with the amount of different equipment available out there, that serves very similar purposes -- talking here about having two different types of Controllers for mining and two different Scanners for exploring. Basically, you usually won't equip one without the other, effectively making it not-a-choice; at least that's how I see it. Perhaps with the upcoming crafting system, this will stop being an issue, with and ability to merge them together (being totally speculative here), but until then, this remains an issue. At least to me.
So, what do you think? Shall we start campaign for 'One More Slot For Everyone (Almost)!'? Should we tug on Mr Brookes' beard long enough until he admits that DBX could use more internals (I know he flies one, himself)? Or maybe I just need to learn to outfit properly and deal with it?

- Try kitting it out as a mining rig? You'll either have to forget the shields or one of the Limpet Controllers... *sigh*
(That said, these days, 32 tonnes of cargo can be filled off one or two asteroids, with use of the Prospectors, but that's another issue...) - Want to do some exploration/artefact hunting and want some protection? You won't be able to fit a Scoop, AFMU, Cargo Rack, a shield and both the Scanners at the same time...
