I was just hanging around the unknown signal location in orbit around Styx and witnessed what had to be one of the most monumental mix ups I ever saw in online gaming.
Note: This is not a name and shame.
I joined an instance with two other commanders already in location. A Cobra piloted by Dead Fred and an Eagle piloted by a commander who's name I forget. All three of us began taking out the toxic waste containers and with only one left, commander Dead Fred inadvertently flew right into the Eagle commanders fire. Of course the Eagle commander stopped firing instantly he saw the error.
So Dead Fred now mistakenly assumes some griefer is attacking him unprovoked and he retaliates. The poor Eagle commander and Dead Fred are now locked in mortal combat to the death. All the while I am shaking my head and laughing at how comically the situation had escalated out of a simple error.
Now to add even more comedy value, another commander (sorry I forgot his name) in a Sidewinder showed up and sees the Eagle being chased by the Dead Fred in his Cobra. So he naturally thinks, some griefer is chasing that poor Eagle pilot and he decides to do the right thing and attacks Dead Fred. A few seconds later the Eagle is toasted by Dead Fred, who flew very well I may add.
So Dead Fred now is thinking, bloody griefers are ganging up on me and turns to attack the Sidewinder. After a few blasts the Sidewinder is almost finished and as a last resort he begins ramming Dead Fred to absolutely zero effect. I saw him boost twice straight into Dead Fred's Cobra before he is blasted to pieces.
Then Dead Fred forms up with me and sees I am not hostile. Obviously feeling all good about himself killing those bloody griefers, he hyperspaces out of the area.
Sorry guys for the long post, I just had to share what I thought was a complete comedy of errors that can only happen in MP.
