This happened to me just now.
Landed on Mercury after visiting the city. Decided to go look about the planet to see what materials it would offer. I came across some wrecked SRV and some cargo pods. When I leave the ship it spawned a big security Anaconda the flew over me, nice I thought, that's cool. BTW loving the new variety of commodities you can find. So having collected them all I boarded the ship and then remembered the reason I got in the SRV in the first place was to collect some materials. So I got back out of the ship and the game again spawned a ship over me, this time a iEagle. I scanned him from my SRV and he was clean. I am just about to roll towards a signal on my wave scanner and suddenly that smeghead starts to open fire on my ship!! :O
So while my heart is very suddenly absolutely pounding, I am frantically trying to drive under my ship, board and take off like a total madman. lol, by the time I'm in, my shields are down to one ring, and he is starting to fire missiles at me! I have a point defense so luckily they were not effective. So immediately 4 pips to shields and 2 to engines I start to run boosting straight up and I'm pounding the boost as much as I can.
Two more blips on my radar appear at this point, I check them and its the cops! Two vipers and boy am I relieved to see that this guy is gonna get what he deserves. Now I think to myself the odds are in my favor, I'm gonna help dispose of this scum, I turn and start giving him some bullets and missiles to chew on. With him hopelessly out numbered he doesn't last long. Phew!.. My heart is still absolutely racing after nearly losing 2mil in rebuy that I really had no interest in throwing away.
The police hang around for a bit, like 4 mins and then flew off, no word nothing. A little message here from them would have gone a long way to making them more life like and keep immersion. Some thing like the chatter you get while docking. I mean that really would have been cool.
Im typing this and while my ship is hovering about 2km above the POI, I hear scan detected so I jump back into the game and see two more security ship coming my way. An Anaconda and a viper and they are slowly coming straight for me. I think, if he carries on like that he is going to fly into me. He really is going to fly into me if he gets any closer. Damn I better move! I want to see if he will though cos of the scramming history and want to see if this has been fixed. I have to quickly thrust right at the moment he would strike me, our shields just touch and fuzz a bit but nothing major. Umm thanks!
So moral I have for you all is:
When you get out of the ship into SRV, game will sometimes spawn a ship and that ship may well be hostile, so don't go buzzing off too quickly in case your ship gets blasted.
Probably best to get into a habit of putting 4 pips to shields during landing so you have the max shield strength for such situations and for landing mistakes.
Also don't sit in the path of those convoys it spawns to fly near you, cos they don't seem to fly with their eyes open!
Fly safe.
