Hiya.
After some playing around with the alpha, keeping the things I remembered about RC3 in mind and the fact I used to work for an amusement park (Six Flags/Walibi World) for over 6 years. I made a small list of features I would like to see.
1. Squares.
At this moment, it seems you can only make paths from point A to point B. But a square function, I haven't found it yet.
2. Intersections options.
Right now the game build really smooth lines when building a path. As with the squares, I haven't succeeded in making a perfectly straight T junction with 90 degree's corners.
3. Alternative guest routes.
It always annoyed me in the Rollercoaster Tycoon series that the AI of guests always seems to find the shortest route. It would be nice if some people try to take a different route or maybe if Path A is crowed, they take route B. Spreading the guest more evenly throughout your park.
4. Guest height limitations.
Often the more thrilling (or dangerous) rides have a height limitation. Mostly to ensure that the park doesn't have three year old flying around everywhere or having to tall people cut their heads off on a hanging rollercoaster. It would be fun to see this inside the game, including the people who try (and fail) anyways and goes complaining to the ride operator.
5. Show grid, snapping and limitations while building paths.
Pretty self explaining I guess. When building close to a building, ride etc etc show a grid of that ride/facility/building/etc. The limitations is more based on, when I select a path length of 3, show me how long that would be roughly. And snapping is all about, if I make two parallel paths, make them snap on the same grid. I like the free flow building but sometimes I miss the RC2 grid building where you could line out everything perfectly.
6. Less perfect guests.
Make some guest misbehave once in a while. Not every guest is a perfect citizen and follows the paths or stand hours in line waiting. You could even go as far as fights erupting (again, speaking of personal experience in amusement parks)
7. Guests by ride types.
It is well known that amusement parks with a lot of thrill rides attracts more youth, while fairy tail themed slow moving rides are more for children. It would be a good idea to make the guest (types) appear based on the scenery, opening hours/time of day (more on next point) ride types, reputation etc etc.
8. Opening hours/days.
Pretty self explanatory I would say. Have a park close at hour X and open at hour Z. Security has to walk the park getting everyone out, maybe you can close off certain area's at a certain time. For example this would sync with point 7. Little children usually go home around 7pm so the children area's can close from that point. Maybe even the days can be put into this as during work days, less people will come due work/school. Even one step further would be to use vacations and seasons or special dates.
9. Building times.
It always was weird for me how rides could instantly appear. Maybe it would be fun to design a ride and then it will be slowly build. The more money you put into construction the shorter the time.
More to come when I played the game some more :3
