For the geeks out there:
Whilst I have a 2x R9 290 setup - I'm not running with crossfire enabled and at the moment the card isn't overclocked.
1440p at 60fps steady as a rock off a single R9 290. Second montior over there ----> that was my primary before looks tiny and pathetic now next to this one.

I recently went 1440 too, rock solid sync at 60hz, stunning views! Korean screen (AOC) flawless, £350 so not as good a deal as you!
Other games look epic too, huge increase in subjective pleasure!
I had a long hard think about whether to go for 4k and gamble on whether the crossfire setup would cope with it once they released support for crossfire and spent a good couple of weeks mulling it over.
Whilst I probably would have been delighted with 4k, I probably made the right decision for both my bank balance and getting smooth gameplay out of my setup.
I'm switching to an Eagle in a bit and tying the same scary close quarters run around the station. I only wish that my connection was better so that I could share a high res twitch stream with you all. Mutter mutter fibre not yet available here mutter mutter.

im on the look out for a new monitor, im after 27 inch.
Have been looking at Asus PG278Q ROG but the price tag is too much looking for somethink under 350 pound mark.
Does anyone have much info on these G-sync monitors are they worth getting ?

I can also confirm that the upgrade from a standard 24" 1920x1080 TN monitor to a 27" 2560x1440 IPS was one hell of a shock.
You cannot truly appreciate just how great games look until you have used one. As well as the size upgrade there was the colour upgrade going from TN to IPS. All those extra pixels also allow you to see more in "most" games as demonstrated here:
There are around 75% more pixels than standard 1080p so you will need a slightly beefier system but it is one hell of an upgrade from 1080p and is highly reccomended by me.
It is a happy medium between 1080p and 4K and costs you far less than 4K, monitor wise and system wise.
I kind of wish that I went 2660x1600 16:10 30" but at the time I could not quite justify the cost.
To anyone thinking about it. You will not regret it. Buy it now!

under 300, im seriously thinking about buying it for that price.

I just took a quick look at what you have specified, personally I think is a bit steep cost wise. Sure it is a nice monitor and G-Sync is kind of cool if your graphics card is not capable of maintaining the refresh rate of the monitor.
This particular monitor is quite a high spec but I am under the impression that it is a TN panel to achieve 1ms response with 144Hz refresh rate.
TN panels while they are great for no input lag they do lack the great colour reproduction of an IPS monitor. Certain IPS monitors are available that have lower input lag anyway. 5-8ms on an IPS monitor is not noticeable by most and is a small price to pay for amazing colours.
G-Sync basically matches the refresh rate of the monitor to the FPS that your graphics card is pushing out which is supposed to make the experience smoother than the standard way of halving the FPS (Like when you drop below 60FPS with Vsync enabled it will default to 30FPS) if you dip below the refresh rate of the monitor which is noticeable by most people and will b visible as a slight judder or slowdown.
I have never used a G-Sync monitor myself but that is one heck of a premium to have this function.
Obviously you will need an Nvidia graphics card but if you have a high end graphics card such as a GTX 780 you will very rarely dip below the refresh rate of a monitor anyway anyway.

I bought mine from the DGM outlet - I chose UK based as it would have a UK warranty. I think the underlying panels are LG IPS ones. Nothing clever or fancy about the screen, but the move to an IPS panel in this size and at this resolution is stunning.
As a subtext to my liking of this screen - I also took a gamble on things like input lag and the like. Having just done the usual flying around the station, whilst I'm sure that on paper there are far better screens, I really don't have any complaints.

2560 x 1440 with build in auto color correction, no fiddeling with colors anymore
Every visitor i have showing games on it is just awestruck
Expensive but worth every penny IMO never regretted the buy.
Playing games and especially elite is just a joy. when i play at other computers
with feks 1920 x 1080 although a large res i feel cheated resulusionvise and colorvise.
After trying the samsung i'm afraid there is no going back.
A word of caution, the upped resolution also demand a hefty GPU CPU to run it.

FWIW after reading a lot of scare stories around quality of similar Dell and Asus products, I got one of these:

I have just been looking at AoC Q2770 Qpu, it has good reviews.
I have read reviews about the Asus rog, apparently you need two 780 cards to make full use of the monitor which again is getting to much money, iv'e recently just bought 780 card which was nearly 400 pounds .

Can anyone recommend a rig spec that would use a 1440 screen to its fullest.
Would appreciate a spec that does not exceed the GNP of a small country if possible.
I'm looking to get a new gamming rig, so would like ED to look awesome on a 1440 screen running at 60fps.
Screen recommendation models also appreciated.
