Just tried mining...

...and found the experience very enjoyable - had a few battles in my Asp with some very nooby NPCs and managed to get 40K of credits in bounties....

...also managed to get 230k from 45 minutes of mining - awesome.

Great fun flying around asteroids in the rift - jaw dropping stuff!

Nosh.

PS - also got 1 ton on Painite and Platinum - oodles of credits :)

I can understand why many people (without VR) find it quite boring. But in VR I find id very relaxing.

I thought about mining since I'm a dk2 user myself.

I have an ASP and about 30m total. What ship, setup, would I use and is it comparably profitable to trading or combat these days?

I've got an Asp with 2 class 1 mining lasers and an A3 collector limpet controller (2 drones). With about 90 cargo room I can make about a million credits per trip to a pristine metallic ring. I still mine in the rings wherever I want, not in the extraction points.

It would be much more relaxing and enjoyable without all the ing around with Refinery bays. If I could just use prospector drones to find asteroids and then use mining lasers to suck up the resources like EVE, it would be great. There's still too much tedious micromanagement.

........There's still too much tedious micromanagement.

And after a few excursions, I wholeheartedly agree with this.....

The ability to define what you want to refine and dump all the other crud and not worry about venting either - it is a seemingly pointless part of the process which fails in making mining more interesting.....

Nosh
