Just what exactly does it take to put a station in lock down and how to counter it?

Educate Me Please !

I just want to know exactly what it takes to put a System or Station in lock down (are these two one in the same?) and exactly how to counter it?

A faction can be put into lockdown by a variety of causes:
- murder of authority ships
- running certain mission types against it.

When it goes into lockdown, all its stations are locked down (reduction in services), and any systems it controls are locked down (increases system security levels)

This can be countered by
- bounty hunting
- running other mission types (e.g. surface scans) for the faction

It can also be cancelled by putting a higher priority BGS state in place (Expansion, Retreat, Election, War or Civil War) - this can if timed correctly prevent it entirely ... more usually it significantly shortens it.

That sounds like a good general description.

Bounty Hunt All Minor Faction Aligned Ships except for the Minor Faction that is in Lock Down ?

As for grabbing a mission to counter the Lock down effects, where to grab them? There are no Missions available at the stations in Lock Down.

Shouldn't there be a graph bar showing the progress for each state that a Minor faction is currently in ? Like the triggers shown in power play ?

After handing in missions, I guess there is some info and a graph, but that info is gone once we exit the view.

Thank you.

At least I now have an Idea of what needs to be accomplished.

There are 'Buckets' associated with different aspects of the BGS states. 'Lockdown' happens to be associated with Law and Order. Committing crimes in a system will drive a Controlling Faction into lockdown. Enforcing Law and Order will do the opposite. Collecting Bounties for, and turning them in with the controlling faction will push away the lockdown. Any missions that promote enforcing the law for a faction will do the same. Massacre missions, Bounty Hunting missions ect.

You need to find a station they're present in but don't control (depending on the faction, there may not be any, or there may be lots)

They're perhaps more useful for stopping the Lockdown state starting in the first place, though.

I think the OP's question pretty much boils down to the ages old problem of how unable we players seem to be to affect the BGS.

For instance, in my current home system my reputation with the local minor faction of criminals has long since been degraded to hostile thanks to the excessive BHing I was doing in the past months while experimenting with various ship loadouts. And it's not just me, because this particular system happens to be the home system of quite a lot of other CMDRs as well, which makes local Res sites pretty crowded virtually 24/7.

And yet the other day, when I was skimming through the mission board for EFCs, there was the representative of said criminal faction again, with the usual resentful look on his face, going "we are in a boom state, business is great".

I was like "well, yeah, you've been losing thousands of your ships to CMDRs for a long time every day, I've certainly seen a great many of them going boom myself, this really must have made business great for you, but what the hell."

And If they Control All 6 systems ? Bounty hunt the only option ?

Yes, I would say This is at least part of it.

Where do I find info on all these so called "Buckets"? Am I stuck, trying to figure this out through trial and error and the forums or Is there a Bible somewhere for the Game I can count on for up to date Info. ?
