Jutter/stutter - WMR/GTX 1070/i7

Hi everyone,

First sorry for my english (i'm french) ^^

I bought a WMR headset recently, and so i have reinstalled ED. Problem : i have some stutter/jutter (i'm not familiar with all these terms), sometime after 5 minutes, sometime after 1 hour. Once it appears, it increase until it becomes completely unplayable. At this point, i can stop and restart the game and i can play again 10 minute or one hour. Even if i go in deep space, problems stay and increase

Here my install :
I7 4770k 3.5ghz
1070 GTX
16gb ram
as monitor i'm on a old plasma TV

headset wmr HP

Games graphics option :
- RV low
- SS at 0.75
- HDM at 1.5
- Vsync off
- no limit ips (also try with 60ips limit)
- resolution tried : 1920x1080 and 1280x720

To play i launch steamVR then the EDlaunch.exe.
steamvr setup :
- ss off
- all kind of reprojection off
- direct mode

I read that there is a solution with monitor frequency at 75hz but i can't do that. Would that really be an issue as sometime i can play without problem ?

Maybe also related, i have a warning sometimes when i launch steamvr, saying that :
"Some displays seemed to be set to mirror its content. This might impact your graphics performance, or renders the headset display unusable"
Usually i restart steamvr until i don't get the warning but it's still strange.

I'm really frustrated as i see peoples playing with similar specs [???]

if anyone have some clues, that would be great ^^ as i'm at work right now i'll take good notes of any ideas

I can’t really help but your system specs look like it should be ok.

Those HP windows mixed reality headsets are a very new so I doubt there are many people with them so that’s why you’ve had no other responses.

My best guess is that it a software problem since this WMR is so new. Hopefully someone with the same headset will spot your post soon.

Thanks gortron, i know it's all new and i don't expect a miracle right now ^^

Nice try seanguzzi but i've already try this. I'm gonna give it a second check to be sure

Hope you get it sorted. VR is amazing when it’s working right. Just been out to one of the stations damaged by the Thargoids... was awesome:D

Good luck

I agree, at least i can play an hour correctly and smooth and enjoy the game anyway.

I've tried to change settings in my nvidia manager, looks a bit better but problem persists. Temperature checked on my cpu and gpu amd all seems ok.
I gonna start to look how the wmr headset really works. Looks like that if i put my hands on the two front camera i can still look around me so it doesn't seems to use them

Well yesterday I met a thargoid in my tiny T6 and that was impressive, so big. I saw a non-human signal and was just too curious, just lucky he didn't care of me ^^ i was just like prof. Grant against the T-rex in Jurassic Parc, no move no see haha. Vr really make it huge, i couldn't play without now I've tasted it
