JWE fencing tool in PC?

They could easily implement a feature that allows us to place scenery objects along a spline and it can perfectly coexist next to piece by piece building. Just look at Cities Skylines for example.

For current game, yes. For sequel, I hope there won´t be PbP at all...

I think we can have both. piece by piece has its place and works well in certain cases. I would love a spline tool for scenery first as it would help enormously with tedious tasks.

I would like to know example where it works well and the other system wouldn´t work well or even better...

Well, I think the piece by piece acts as a nice bridge right now between the familiar way how previous RCT games worked (since many people here like to refer to them as the baseline for this) and how it could work in the future. I never stated that piece by piece was far superior to anything that may or may not exist now or in the future. Like with everything, it cal always be improved upon. There are no such thing as a perfect anything in the world. But, for the current version and limitations of Planet Coaster you won't see the piece by piece building part go away. You can still add this spline tool for certain items like fencing to improve the placement of those. It also works very well for standard, smaller buildings where you don't need or want a lot of complexity.

Some people may always want to prefer piece by piece in the way it is now because it is familiar and they work faster that way or be more comfortable. No different really than that some companies still design all their stuff (being parts, houses etc.) in 2D applications and some do the same in full 3D. I think a lot can be improved in the building system but the choice to stay with what made this genera great in the first place was a solid decision at the time. It probably also solidified even further after the first development diary came out and everyone was in aww for the grid based building system. If everyone hated the system or wanted something else, that would have been the time to say so, not now. Who knows, maybe they would have redesigned the system. We are long past that point now.

Actually I do think that PbP building allows for tons of creativity, since you can combine your pieces however you wish, allowing you to create plenty of cool stuff that isn't in the toolbox to begin with. So yeah, it definitely has its place, also in PC.

Where strictly walls and fences are concerned though I guess I rarely find it an asset. But that doesn't mean PbP is itself a bad mechanic :)

Also, I agree we shouldn't expect a complete overhaul of the building system, and I'm not really asking for that either personally. I really only want that fencing tool ^^

It's sad really to see a Spline-based fence tool and rain in the JWE trailer especially since we've been asking this for Planet Coaster for so long

As others have mentioned, it's not about fences or a "fence tool"! It's about a spline tool. We would obviously want any scenery object to be usable as the spline "seed", repeatable along the spline.

Additional options would be expected, such as max number of items in the array, spacing and rotation options. This would allow for example a row of trees to be generated, the exact number you need, each one rotated slightly and spaced as you want including random spacing. A "tree brush" would not give you that advanced placement control. A good spline tool would act kind of like a scenery brush anyway.

Fences are important in JWE to keep dinosaurs in, so a dedicated fence tool makes sense. In PC we should aim for multi-purpose tools.

This^ ! But a optional Tree Brush would be awesome. like select up to 5 different plants or more and set a brush size and how many plants spawn. to cover big areas.
