K-scanner bounty report and sound cue

As it stands now, when your k-scan goes through, there is no indication. Not really even a sound cue. You also need to go to the sidepanel and dig up the contact to see if the scanner actually discovered anything.

For a nice little UI improvement, I'd like a clear *ding* when the scanner finishes. Maybe a low pitch one if no bounty is found, and a higher pitched one for detecting one. As this happens, the detected total bounty should show on the screen for a while. Near the ship, in the same way as the "Surge detected" warning is shown.

Agreed - a pilot has enough to do while keeping a (possibly firing contact) in the scanner's active zone without checking the left UI panel.

While we're at it, I'd like a HUD reticule showing the sensor zone(s) of the viewport for KWS and cargo scans, and a helmet visor (not HUD) reticule for 'pipping' scanner contacts. With head tracking (or mouse look), you often want to 'pip' a target by aiming the centre of the view at it using head tracking and pressing 'Target ship in front', but it's hard to locate the active zone to select it with the diamond 'target centred' indicator, when the view doesn't coincide with the HUD.

I should probably open another thread for this...

it doesn't have to have the breakdown necessarily. I'd be fine with just seeing the total.

I wouldn't mind either. If you are waaaaaaay down in Empire territory and it come up with Alliance 1000cr then you'll know it is not worth the hassle of claiming that bounty!

Well yes, seeing the breakdown would be ok as well.

I just meant that the core idea of hearing some sort of *ding* when the scan finishes, and seeing the bounty on the screen would really improve the user experience.

Good idea, having to browse the contact list all the time is annoying, especially since it stopped jumping to the selected target when being opened long ago, and thus you have to scroll through the list each time.:(
