Kahuna Resort Zoo

Welcome to Kahuna Resort Zoo!

Founded by Malcolm Akamu, a wealthy businessman and philanthropist from Hawaii, the Kahuna Hotels and Resorts company encompasses multiple islands in the Pacific Ocean. Wanting to expand the company’s offerings while doing good for the wildlife he’s so fond of, Mr. Akamu partnered with multiple conservation organizations to develop the Kahuna Resort Zoo as part of the main Kahuna Resort on an island a few miles away from the zoo.

The zoo itself is built on a series of small islands: Central Island, Sunny Shores, Kiwi Key, and Little Tasmania.

Central Island

The main island on which the zoo resides is home to most of the species found in the zoo. Here you can watch spectacled flying foxes fly over your head, walk amongst red-necked wallabies, look an emu in the eye, and fawn at the cuteness of the koalas, wombats, and platypi.

Sunny Shores
The largest of the islands surrounding Central Island, Sunny Shores is home to arguably the cutest residents of the zoo. Here, you can walk amongst our adorable, ever-smiling quokkas. You can also experience an up-close underwater encounter with our little penguins. Did you bring lunch with you? You can enjoy it while listening to the ocean waves at Penguin Picnic Place.
