Kaizen, please.

I've seen so many threads on the suggestions forum, where someone makes a perfectly innocuous suggestion and immediately gets swamped by nay-sayers. For example, that guy who doesn't want to watch a ten second animation of a piece of metal slowly rotating every time they launch. Seems quite sensible, but go read the replies (!)

"Kaizen" is a Japanese word. It's a philosophy of continual, incremental improvement.
  • Something doesn't have to be broken before you can make it better.
  • Something can be really quite good, but still be made better.

Whereas, in the UK, it seems:

  • If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  • Yeah, it's a bit pants, but you get used to it.
  • I DON'T LIKE CHANGE!

I live in Tokyo. It makes the UK seem like something out of the Dark Ages. I suspect kaizen may be part of the reason why.

Honestly, if you're not going to make any suggestions, then gtf out of the suggestions forum. If people diverted a fraction of their energy into making suggestions that they currently use to try and shoot other people's down, then we might end up with a better game.

Yours,

Grumpy Old Man.
