Kamikaze Security Pilots

Alrighty, let's have a talk about this topic. I know it's not just me that's noticed the NPC internal security pilots really enjoy buzzing our ships now while coming into and leaving port but this is getting ridiculous. I'm running passenger missions in my Beluga (which granted has weak shields by default and is a big target) and coming into this port in autodock, almost into the airlock cage I get slammed by a suicidal security ship at full boost and got me a fine. This knocked around half of my shield health down but leaving I just got out of the airlock and got hit again. Same story, full boost, hit me square in the starboard side, this knocked the rest of my shields offline and got me another fine then to boot another internal security ship hit me full speed almost directly in the canopy maybe one second after the last, this did 70% hull damage and another fine. This did 57,000 cr in damage, 450 cr in fines and made me fail three passenger missions between the wrecks and overlapping scans. Is this a bug? This is getting bad regardless. Anyone else have some good internal security stories to tell?

It's a bug, the security seem to get a bit carried away with 'pointing the scanner at the target' and forget to slow down when you do.
I've been struck once in my ASPX but i assume its worse in the larger slower ships.
In the short term your only choice is to keep your speed under 100, then i believe you won't get any fines or even worse convicted of ramming murder and shot to death by the station which i think has happened to some Commanders.
Hopefully they fix it quicker than the skimmer bug that also make stations a lethal place to visit.

Yea this is ridiculous. I saw some security smash into station enterance or comming at me. Luckly with some reflex and ships agility somehow I dodge that. But there is like 80% chance that I will have "mother" on my mouth when docking couse their flying with Wind of God will.

If I understand it correctly, you said you were using a docking computer and got fined after being rammed? That's definitely a bug.

Just got hit again lol it's almost comical

I will have to try this. I haven't had this problem, because I don't let any system security ship near me (I usually carry illicit cargo). But it does sound interesting. :D

However if you're receiving fines for being rammed when not speeding (under 100m/s) and while DC is on, definitely go report it.

Now while I was in autodock when the first fine occurred Im wondering something. We all know autodock gets a little....uhhh...rambunctious at times and I wonder if it had me going over 100 at the time of the crash. Not sure if it would count since the "speeding" on the hud goes away in autodock but I'm unsure of what my speed was. I was looking at my phone letting autodock do its thing, heard loud boost, looked up and got smoked.

It shouldn't matter. DC sometimes goes over the speed limit, but you are still not supposed to receive a fine while it's on. (I guess the security sends the bill to manufacturer, instead. :p)

That's a good assessment and advice. For now my life consists of being scanned every single time I enter and exit port, hearing "Scan detected" and then hearing the thud of a ship bouncing off of me.

Don't forget to bug report it with data or video each time it happens. The more we do, the easier the devs will be able to slay it and the higher priority it will get.

It's not only the security but ALL npc's which go kamikaze since 2.4
The pirates that hunt in wing like to scan-ram me very often. I loose more shield health to the rams than in actual combat against them. It's plain stupid and annoying

I had a real kamikaze Python yesterday on a pirate assassination. When I got it down to just a few percent hull, it boosted straight at me, scraped off almost two rings from my shields and exploded. That maneuver got me quite by surprise.

Yep the Ram/Scan bug is back.... again, they may fix it next year, for now the workaround is slow down around the stations.

I've not had anything quite this bad happen but I've also noticed they are getting too close and I've been hit on one occasion.
Keeping below 100m/s seems to help, I've not been hit at that speed, though they've certainly got alarmingly close.
As you say, they seem to fully boost at you and then its is something of a matter of luck if they pull away in time.

Seems to be most prominent when piloting bigger ships,
small ones don't seem to have that issue.

I almost had to remove security residue from the cockpit window when leaving a station,
boosting around 450m/s in my trusty ole cutter away from the station, one of those pesky security vipers nearly made a lasting impact.

The path and surroundings was clear so where the hell did he come from?

It's not just security ships that do it. Pirates do it too or any ship that wants to scan you. I've recently been doing a lot of RES farming in a Sidewinder. The ramming is a real nuisance. I got about 4 significant rams per visit, which took down my shields and up to 40% of my hull with a single ram. I had to keep going back for repairs. Several times, I had only just arrived, and not even shot a single ship, when bang "shields offline" and 10% of my hull gone. I then managed to compose myself and get ready for a fight, then bang "shields offline", another 20% of my hull gone and still not fired a shot.

Not been hit yet but have been buzzed by security quite a few times, a few have been ridiculously close

The first time it happened since the update it scared me half to death, much swearing was done as I was only half paying attention waiting for the mass lock to shift
